Obituary: Paul Joseph Buddy Mr. Golden Cask Colletti, 86 of Port Arthur passed away on , 20, 2010 at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Houston with his loving wife, Louise by his side. Paul was born on 12, 1924 at 2248 Ninth Street in Port Arthur to Mary Graffagnino Colletti and Cologero Calo Colletti. Paul was one of four children; the oldest sister was Pauline who married Dalton Moore; they had one daughter Paula Ann Moore. Next was Margaret, who married Jim Ferrante and they had one son, Joey Ferrante. The youngest was Mary Ann who married Bob Redkey. Mary Ann passed away on 31, 2005. At six years of age, Paul attended DeQueen Elementary School; at age thirteen, he went to Woodrow Wilson School. His parents wanted him to go to a parochial high school so he was enrolled at St. Mary High School for his sophomore, junior and senior years. At St. Marys, Paul participated in baseball, basketball and football and was captain of the football team and president of his senior class. He graduated with the second highest grades for the boys. graduating, Paul worked the summer at Texaco Refinery to earn money to go to college. He later enrolled at Texas A&M University in 1942 where he played freshman football and later received his draft notice and was inducted in the U.S. Army in 1943 at Camp Wolters, Texas. He served three years and one month and served overseas in Italy. Paul was honorably discharged in 1946. being discharged, Paul worked as an insurance agent; he then went to work for a friend of his fathers at Boyers Cigar Store. In 1952, Paul married Dimples Brown and was married until her death on 9, 1983. Dimples had two sons, James and Delward Horn. In 1952, Paul and Dimples purchased the Seahawk Drive-In from John Ippolito. It was a drive-in restaurant where they sold food, milk shakes, malts, ice cream, soda drinks and they also sold beer. In 1956, they converted it to the Sky Room which was a place for meeting friends, having drinks and enjoying yourself. In 1960, they remodeled and put in a private club, The Golden Cask. It was one of the first private clubs in East Texas; it was a membership club and the dues were only three dollars a month. had a band playing six nights a week and their favorite promotion was $2.00 steak night, it was very popular amongst the members. In 1966, Paul went into partnership with Tony Cascio, Tom Dryer and Paul Nip Nap Bruscato and they opened Shakeys Pizza Parlor right next door to the Golden Cask. A year later, they opened Shakeys Pizza Parlor in Beaumont. showed old silent movies, had a piano player and banjo player who led sing alongs. Paul and Dimples were running all three businesses at one time; they put in many long hours and a lot of hard work, but they did it. a few years, the parlor in Beaumont was sold. In 1970, Paul and Dimples sold the Golden Cask and the Port Arthur Shakeys Pizza was remodeled and turned into Collettis Italian Restaurante featuring old recipes from the family. selling Collettis, Paul retired in 1986. Dimples passed away, Paul met Louise Pitre. Paul and Louise dated for quite some time and took many vacations together. Louise had three children, one daughter, Becky and two sons, Mickey and Billy who later passed away. On 23, 2004, Paul and Louise were married at St. Catherines Catholic Church with Father Kevin Badeaux presiding. Louises brother, Mickey and his wife, Carol came from Newport News, Virginia and was the best man and matron of honor. Also attending were Bill and Barbara Bostwick and Curtis Gary all from North Carolina. Paul was past President of the Port Arthur Jaycees, past President of Port Arthur Sertoma Club; past President of the Southeast Italian-American Club; life member of the Port Arthur Sertoma Club; American Legion; life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1304 and a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church. Paul also served on the Parish Council and Financial Committee and was a Lecturer. Paul is survived by his wife, Louise Marcella Colletti of Port Arthur; sister, Margaret Maggie Colletti Ferrante and her husband, James Jim Ferrante of Port Arthur; step-son, Mickey Gary and his wife Karen; step-daughter, Becky Jordan and her husband, Dennis; step-sons, James Horn and wife, Jean and Delward Horn; brother-in-law, Mickey Marcella and wife, Carol of Newport News, Virginia; niece, Paula Ann Perry and husband, Wayman of Spring, Texas and nephew, Joey Ferrante and wife Coleen of Houston, Texas and great niece, Stephanie Myers. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Cologero Cal Colletti; his first wife, Dimples Brown Colletti; sisters, Pauline Colletti Moore and Mary Ann Colletti Redkey and his step-son, Billy Gary. A gathering of friends and family will be conducted from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. , 24, 2010 at Grammier-Oberle in Port Arthur. A Eulogy will be presented by the Southeast Italian-American Society and the Port Arthur Sertoma Club from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. . A Scriptural Rosary will be recited by Father Stephen McCrate at 7:00 p.m. with visitation to continue afterwards until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. , 25, 2010 at St. Catherine Sienna Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Father Stephen McCrate serving as the Celebrant and Father Duc Q. Duong con-celebrating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas. Obituary: Genevieve Ginger A. Colletti, 90, of Port Arthur passed away , 17, 2015 at Oak Grove in Groves, Texas. She was born on 10, 1924 in ODonnell, Texas to Loretta and Dave Fergason. Ginger graduated from Denver City High School and was valedictorian of her class. She attended Draughons Business in Lubbock and then St. Paul Hospital in Dallas where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. graduation she served as a Cadet in the United States Navy. She worked in industrial nursing and also private nursing in Dallas, Texas. Ginger married Dr. Ben M. Colletti, M.D. in 1950 and worked in his office. She was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church and was very active in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Jefferson Medical Associations Ladies Auxiliary and was one of the leaders that lobbied for the child safety seat laws and bicycle helmet laws in Texas when her husband was a Delegate of the Texas Pediatric Association; Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she researched genealogy back to the Mayflower and her Scottish and Irish ancestors. In 1966 she was honored by the Quota Club as Woman of the Year. She continued her education with a major in oil and gas and received her paralegal degree from Lamar University in 1980. Ginger loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking large family meals. She was always a huge supporter of her childrens varied activities and pursuits. She had many hobbies including gardening and genealogy research. She supported PBS radio KTRH in Houston and appreciated their politics and independent thinking. services will be held at 2:00 p.m., , 20, 2015 at Levingston in Groves with Reverend Stephen McCrate officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Ginger is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ben Colletti, two sons, Ben Anthony and Mark Colletti and her brother, Leo Fergason. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Bradford and husband, John Michael of Beaumont, TX, three sons, Sam Colletti and wife, Brenda of Leander, TX, Matthew Colletti and wife, Brenda of San Marcos, TX, and Greg Colletti of Dallas, TX, sister, Margaret Mauk of Wylie, TX, ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Obituary: FORT WORTH -- John Burton Collette, 55, passed away 18, 2016. The family asks that you join them in celebrating the life of John Burton Collette at 2 PM at The Hills Church. Visitation will be held at Shannon Rufe Snow Chapel from 6-8 PM on . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Family fund of The Hills Church. John Burton Collette was born in Chihuahua, Mexico to George Burton Collette and Aurora (Montes) Collette. He grew up in El Paso, graduated from Coronado High School and attended the University of Texas in El Paso before moving to Fort Worth. Burt worked for Star Bible Publishing before becoming a correction officer for the Tarrant Sheriff's Office where he has worked for the last nineteen years. Burt attended The Hills Church and had been an active member for over thirty years. He was a loving husband, father and friend. Though our hearts our breaking as we have to release him from our presence, we are rejoicing in knowing he is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and we will be reunited with him again one day He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Carlos and Mario. Survivors: Wife of 29 years, Kim Collette; children, Mallory, Mariah and Ethan Collette; siblings, Ana Ayala, Reyes Ley, Lupe Montes and Delores Margarita Ojeda; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. |
