Obituary: .On May 26, 2017, John Earl Coburn went home to be with the Lord. He was born on 15, 1930, in Huntsville, Texas, to John T. and Adna Coburn. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Eleece Coburn, his son David Bryan Coburn, and his daughter Coleen Kay McCoy. He is also preceded in death by brothers Cecil and Doyle, and sisters, Ruby, Wanda, and Lenora. He is survived by his daughter Melinda Coleman, of Pasadena, Texas, his grandson Jeff McCoy and wife Celina, of Owasso, Oklahoma, grandson Clay Callahan, of Denver, Colorado, and granddaughter Kristen Fluellen and husband Shannon, of Houston, TX. He is also survived by great granddaughter Maegan Beth Pittser and husband Corey, great-grandson John Tyler McCoy and wife Jen, and great-grandson Felix Riley Fluellen. Finally, he is survived by great-great granddaughters Elizabeth Rose Pittser and Alexandria Eleece Pittser, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and too many friends to count. He served in the United States Airforce and then worked for 46 years in the metal building components industry for Moncrief-Lenoir, ECI, and Carlisle, before retiring in 1996. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. His family meant the world to him. John was a wonderful man and many people, both family and friends, will forever feel the loss. |

Obituary: Eloise Ruth Coburn passed away , Jan. 30, 2012. Graveside service: 10 a.m. in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to a charity of choice or just a smile to brighten someones day. Eloise was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Perryton, the daughter of Compton Conway Bull and Mabel Burkhart Bull. She was a longtime resident of Tarrant and, upon her mothers marriage to Howard Carroll Williams, as a young girl, she was doubly blessed to have known his love, wisdom and guidance. Eloise enjoyed her career as a medical assistant and was an active member and officer in the Tarrant Medical Assistants Society. For many years, she was also active in the Haltom City Garden Club and her beloved Polytechnic First United Methodist Church -- and back in the day, what memorable Christmas Eve gatherings! The family extends gratitude to The Courtyards, Fort Worth, for the dignity and care our mother received during her many years in residence. Godspeed, Ms. Lou. Survivors: Her sons, James M. Obituary: Betty Sue Wathen Coburn passed away , 11, 2015. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. , 27, at The Woman's Club of Fort Worth, 1316 Pennsylvania Ave., in Shelton Hall. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Historical Preservation Trust, care of The Woman's Club of Fort Worth, 1316 Pennsylvania Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76104. Sue was born in Dallas on 25, 1925, to Proctor Knott and Cleo Wathen. She lived most of her life in Fort Worth and was married to the love of her life, Jim Coburn. raised three children and were blessed with five grandchildren, becoming a great-grandmother in . Grandchildren called her Bachan, Japanese for grandmother, a tribute to the mother of a longtime friend. Sue attended Alice Carlson Elementary where she met another lifelong friend, Betty Winton Fay. were co-generals in the first club she formed with Betty, the Secret Ghost Service. Their club stories are epic! Sue attended McLean Junior High and Paschal High School. She attended Baylor University and Texas Christian University. Sue met Jim during World War II and married in 1946. She was a member of numerous clubs and organizations: the D.A.R., The Junior Woman's Club and later The Woman's Club where she enjoyed various groups. Enduring relationships were a large part of her life. Sue began a night bridge club in 1955 that continued to meet until only a few years ago. More recently, her Coke and Joke Club and the Birthday Group and other close friends have sustained her with the love that comes from lifelong friendships. Sue relished watching her sons and daughter grow up and particularly loved watching her sons play baseball. She even wrote the lyrics for Southwest High School's alma mater. Becoming a grandmother was a very meaningful part of her life. Matthew, Kelly, Christopher, Richard and Rachel loved her deeply and the newly minted Annabelle certainly would have. Macular degeneration never stopped her from watching her beloved Texas Rangers or working the New York Times crossword, in ink! Sue lived independently until the very last. She had a wonderful life, was loved by all and we are sure she has been reunited with Jim in a much better place. Rest well, Mom. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 2003. Survivors: Son, Jim and wife, Sarah; son, David and wife, Vicki; daughter, Mary and husband, Bruce; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brother, Bill Wathen and wife, Barbara. |
