Obituary: Shannon Austin Coad lived a much too short but productive life. She was born on 19, 1973 and left this earth for the better one promised by our Lord on , 2, 2010. Shannon is survived by her loving family: her husband, John; her sons Jacob and Jackson, her mother Sherrie Coleman and husband Jim; and her mother in law, Laura Coad all of San Angelo, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Lauryn Crosby Edell and husband Wes of San Diego California and sister-in-law Carol Coad Gleason, husband J.B. and their son Benjamin of Allen, Texas and numerous other extended family and friends. Shannon grew up in San Angelo, Texas where she attended elementary, junior high, high school and college. She graduated from Angelo State University with her B.S. and M.S. in Biology. Her passion for education and the pursuit of knowledge didn stop upon completion of her masters degree. She went on to teach biology at Howard where she was employed at the time of her death. Shannon never viewed her time at Howard as a job. It was her calling. She had a gift for helping people find their inner strength. She inspired many to take a long hard look at who they really are and to act on their full potential. As a mother of special needs children, Shannon was committed to educating others about Autism Spectrum Disorder. She worked tirelessly as an advocate for her children. Shannon wasn all business. She knew how to have fun. She was a participant in fantasy football and could make a mean pot of chili. She recently qualified for her second time to cook in the infamous Terlingua Chili Cook Off. Shannon was a giver. She met her husband while donating blood. She even once said, "I gave a pint and I received the love of my life." She met her match with John. both brought strong personalities to their marriage and their little apples didn fall far from the tree. Shannon picked her friends. fully. If you were a part of her "inner circle" you both knew it and were honored to be a part. You were family. She was a fantastic scrapbooker and treasured her nights with her "peeps." John recognized her talent and allowed her to convert their formal living space into a "scrapbookers utopia" which the girls dubbed, "Casa Yoda." She was loyal, loving and eager to participate in everything life had to offer. Her exit from this life was premature and leaves a gaping hole in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. The family will receive visitors at Johnsons home on from 5:00 - 7:00. A celebration of her life will be at Johnsons at 2:00 with Rev. Emmett Corker officiating. are under the direction of Johnsons . In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Autism Speaks. Friends and Family are invited to sign an online register book at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com |

Obituary: Oscar Parley Anderson passed from this earth on 24, 2016. Oscar was born to Swedish immigrants, Carl Algot and Signe Bertina Anderson, in Rock Springs, Wyoming on 20, 1932. Oscar was preceded in death (1991) by his wife of 34 years Emilee Vyvial Anderson and his eight siblings. He was raised in Superior, Wyoming, where his father worked as a coal miner. Oscar told many tales of growing up in the depression and war years. He often told the story of tipping outhouses on a Halloween night, getting caught, and then having to set them aright the next day. Upon graduation from high school in 1950 Oscar went to work in the coal mine. Finding that particular endeavor distasteful, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1952. Oscar was then stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Other duty stations included New Mexico, Hawaii, Texas, and Germany. During his twenty-three year career with the Air Force Oscar achieved the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Oscar went to work as bank officer with First National Bank of San Antonio and then with the United States Postal Service from which he retired in 1991. Upon retirement from the work-a-day world, Oscar undertook the task of holding local politicians accountable. While some might have considered this a Quixotic effort he had an impact as politicians responded to his many missives either sent directly to them or published as editorials in newspapers. Oscar endeavored to remain well informed on contemporary issues so he could form solid opinions and defend his position. Many a person regretted challenging his positions as he could present a well reasoned and passionate argument. One might conclude the same ability was passed on to his children. Oscar was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars post 8315 in Schertz and American Legion post 667 in Universal City. Oscar and Emilee set up residence in Schertz, Texas where their children grew to call it home. Oscar is survived by his children, Ellen Kathleen Kennedy of San Antonio, Susan Patrice Hartzog (Earl) of Schertz; Carl Aaron Anderson (Cynthia) of Kyle, TX; Diana Lynn Hottle (Keith) of San Antonio; Jacqueline Marie Lerche (Don) of Schertz; and Glenn Alan Anderson (Michelle) of Crane, TX as well as 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National on , 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. In honor of Oscars wishes, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the UT Science to support patient care for those suffering from cancer. Checks may be made to UT Science , and send to UTHSCSA, 7703 Floyd Curl Drive - MC 7835, San Antonio, Texas 78229. Memo line: Anderson Memorial Fund. https://makelivesbetter.uthscsa.edu/anderson |
