Obituary: Kathleen J. Clark passed away on 28, 2014. She was born 22, 1922, in San Saba, Texas, the daughter of William F. Jackson and Margaret Leverett Jackson. Kathleen married Marion Frank Clark on 27, 1942, at the Lubbock Army Flying School. She was a career Air Force wife raising four children while traveling extensively throughout the 1940s and 1950s of which two assignments were spent in Japan and Germany. Upon retirement from the military, the Clark family settled in Dallas where Kathleen was a homemaker. Her grandchildren brought a special joy to her life, and she enjoyed the time spent with them. In addition, Kathleen especially enjoyed music and gardening. Kathleen is survived by her sons John Joe Clark and wife Saundra of Conyers, Georgia, William Bill Clark of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Paul Mike Clark and wife Joyce of McKinney, Texas; daughter-in-law Mary A. Patin and husband Bob of Nashville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and seven great-granchildren. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, of 66 years; their daughter, Pamela Smith; and one grandchild. Special thanks to the owners and employees of HuntLeigh for the loving care they extended to Kathleen during her final months. There will be a memorial service for Kathleen at Calvary Hill Chapel on 4, 2014 at 12:00pm. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Hill . |

Obituary: Karen Chandler Clark passed away on May 10, 2013, her 64th birthday. The San Antonio native graduated with honors from Texas Tech University in 1971 with a degree in secondary education. She earned her masters degree at Troy University in Alabama in 1982. Karen met her future husband, Robert T. Clark of San Antonio, while attending Texas Tech. were married on Jan. 9, 1971. She gave birth to a daughter, Anne, in 1972, and a son, Robert Jr., in 1973. Karen was a gifted educator, and taught at every level from preschool to college. She was especially gratified to teach English as a second language to foreign-born wives of soldiers, so that they could write letters to their husbands who were deployed during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She was a dedicated Army wife. As her husband rose through the ranks from second lieutenant to lieutenant general, Karen was by his side with support and grace. She gave birth to Anne while Lt. Clark was in Vietnam, and she led a family support group for the wives of 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division while he served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She was heavily involved in these support groups throughout her service as an Army spouse, and greatly enjoyed he sisterhood — the camaraderie of her fellow Army wives. The Army took the Clarks across the globe. Karen particularly enjoyed her time at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii; Fairfax and Fort Myer, Virginia; Fort Benning, Georgia; and Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Gen. Clark had four tours in the fabled 101st Airborne Division from 1987 to 2000. He and Karen developed dear friendships along the way that continue to this day. The Clarks returned home to San Antonio in 2000, when Gen. Clark was deputy commander of 5th Army at Fort Sam Houston, and then commander of U.S. Army, North (ARNORTH). Karen loved being back in her hometown with her father, James Burton Chandler Jr. Retirement from the military didn end her service; she participated in the Military Civilian Club, a ladies community organization. She enjoyed the San Antonio Rodeo and performances at the Majestic Theatre, and she rooted for the Spurs. She also enjoyed going back to Lubbock for football games at her beloved alma mater. Karen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished her time with her six grandchildren: three grandsons from Anne and three granddaughters from Robert Jr. and his wife, Kristie. Her life affected so many others, including all the students she taught and the countless Army wives she loved and supported. Though her family is devastated, we are blessed for the time we had together. Karen is preceded in death by her grandmother, Zella Maude Chandler; her uncle, Jack Chandler; her aunt, Billie Nelson; and her in-laws, Col. H.A. and Frances Clark. She is survived by her father, James Burton Chandler Jr. and his wife, Letha; her husband, Lt. Gen. (retired) Robert T. Clark; her daughter, Anne Clark; her son, Robert T. Clark Jr. and his wife, Kristie; grandsons Ethan, Bailey and Sam Jordan; granddaughters Grace, Merritt and Caroline Clark; and brothers Kyle and Kellis Chandler. SERVICE FRIDAY MAY 17, 2013 9:00 A.M.
