Obituary: CHEVALIER Edward Robert Chevalier born May 10, 1922, in Lowell, Mass to Edward E. and Yvonne M. Chevalier, passed away , 7, 2014 at the age of 92 at the Texas State Veterans in Floresville, Texas. He joined the US Navy in 1942 and was attached to the Marine Corps as a corpsman the first year. By the end of WWII he had attained the rank of PHC 2/c (Pharmacists Mate), now the equivalent of Chief. While he was stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital he married Navy nurse Ens. Druecillo Mae Fleming of Crystal City, Texas. He left the active duty Navy after WWII, but stayed in the Naval Reserve until 1948 when he joined the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. When the Army and Air Force split Edward chose to go with the Air Force. In the 1950s he was assigned to a USAF medical unit doing aerospace research at Randolph AFB in Texas. In 1959 he was transferred to the Balcones Research in Austin, Texas where he trained the monkeys that were sent into space during the early days of space travel. In 1963 he went to Lackland AFB as a Master Sergeant where he designed and operated the lab for the first electron microscope in Texas. He retired from the USAF in 1967 having had served in the US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Army and the US Air Force for over 25 years. He continued working in the field of epidemiology with the electron microscope at Lackland AFB as a member of the Civil Service. During the 1980s, after retirement from Civil Service, he was recruited by the University of Texas Marine Sciences Institute in Pt. Aransas where he worked with the electron microscope for several years. Edward was a Master Mason of the Texas Masonic Lodge No. 8 A.F. & A.M., San Antonio, Texas for 60 years. Edward loved fishing, photography, gardening, and woodworking. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather who always put his family first. He was a man who was raised during the Great Depression, knew the value of hard work and if you were in need would give you the shirt off his back and his last dime. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lowell Chevalier, and his wife of 60 years, Druecillo Mae Chevalier. Edward is survived by his brothers and sisters, Raymond Chevalier, Jerome Chevalier, Louise Morea, and Jeanette Dumont; his son, Edward F. Chevalier and wife, Nina; grandsons Edward J. Chevalier and wife, Adrienne, and Robert G. Chevalier and wife, Jennifer; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Sarah, Blake, Allie, and Edward Richard Chevalier. Obituary: CHEVALIER Dorothy Irene Chevalier, better known as DOT, was called home by the Lord on 28, 2001 after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Fallon, NV, 9, 1939, and was a resident of San Antonio, and most recently Lakehills, TX. Dot retired from Civil Service in 1997 after 30 years Distinguished Service at various civilian and military installations around the world. Her talents and ability to assume control led her to take charge and become known as he boss of each office or project to which she was assigned. During her career, she received many awards and decorations. When she retired, she was the Administrative Assistant to the 19th AF Judge Advocate at Randolph AFB, TX. Dot was a life member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha ESA a philanthropic society and served as Texas State President. She was active in the La Societe des Femmes, the auxiliary of the Forty and Eight, a veterans organization. She had been recently nominated to become a National Vice-President of that organization and was to be formally installed at the national convention next month in Hagerstown, MD. Dot had a captivating ability to brighten a room when she entered. Her love of family and friends was complimented by her consuming love of animals and nature. Dots love of nature led to her move to the hill country where she could fish and enjoy the birds and deer in their environment. Dot loved to read and enjoyed trips to coastal areas for beach combing in search of that special seashell. Dot recently achieved a lifelong dream of seeing the wonders of Alaska by taking a cruise of Alaskas Inside Passage and shore excursions at au, Skagway, and Ketchican. To fill idle hours in an otherwise endless schedule, she attended training and became a tax preparer. moving to Lakehills, she and her husband established PDC Enterprises, a successful income tax preparation firm. Born on 25, 1964, she spent half of her life in Hong Kong before moving to the United States in 1991. She graduated from the Asia International Open University, Hong Kong in 1994 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and in 1997 she earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of St. Thomas, Houston. She also received certification from the Arizona State University in supply chain management and a few other short programs from accredited universities. Janet spent most of her career with Amoco and later with BP in various leadership roles covering upstream, midstream, downstream, global fuels technology, wells procurement and supply chain management and most recently global subsea BOP reliability before she retired in mid-2016. She was an active member of the Houston First Baptist Church. Janet was a devoted Christian, intelligent, confident, loving, thoughtful and always putting others before herself. Her natural outgoing personality allowed her to gain valuable life experience even as a young girl, while her inquisitive attitude fueled her passion to explore the world. She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and sampling all kinds of cuisine. Sadly, her tremendous enthusiasm to serve God in retirement came to a halt by a rare blood disease. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Samco Wong; elder sister, Christina Cheung; brother-in-law, Po Ming Lau; brother-in-law, Bob Clifford; nephew, Oliver Clifford-Marsh, wife Pia Clifford-Marsh and their lovely daughter Fox Mei Clifford-Marsh; nephew, William Clifford, wife Romina Bertossi and their lovely daughters Sofia Mei Clifford and Emma Lin Clifford. She was preceded in death by her eldest sister, Sylvia Clifford, and parents, Chuen Cheung and So Wai Pang. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 10:30 am until 11:30 am on , 7, 2017 at Houstons First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024, services will follow in the Chapel at Houstons First Baptist Church at 11:30 am, with a reception to follow at the church. Interment will follow on , 13, 2017 at the Abbey View Memorial Park in Brier, WA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Pastoral Ministry of the Houston First Baptist Church. |
