Obituary: Remembering Jeanie Daughter, sister, aunt, friend, nurse, these are just a few words to describe Jeanie. Jeanie was the fourth of five children, born to Johnny and Jeannette Cernosek, on 2, 1966. She was raised in Garland, TX and attended Good Shepherd from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Growing up we spent lots of time outside. We played kickball in the streets and went swimming at the neighborhood pool. During Lent, Jeanie and I would ride our bicycles to M.E. Moses and buy candy to save for the end of Easter so we had a lot of candy to eat. One Lent I convinced Jeanie that giving up candy did not include chocolate so when we would ride our bicycles to the drug store, we would get a chocolate bar along with a piece of candy. We would eat the chocolate bar and add the candy to our box to save for the end of Easter. She attended North Garland HS where she graduated in 1985. Jeanie attended Texas Tech University where she graduated with a degree in Horticulture. She worked in landscaping for many years. During this time she met life long friends, many which are here today. As sisters, Jeanie and Theresa, lived together for 5 years before each struck out on their own. Jeanie lived in several apartments before moving to Bordeaux Village. She once again made many life long friends. Her love of animals was a special bond that she shared with many of her Bordeaux friends. Jeanie was a runner and completed the Dallas Whiterock Marathon and the New York Marathon twice. She also completed a 150 mile bike ride. Jeanie decided to make a career switch and went back to school to obtain her nursing degree. Once she made that decision, there was no turning back as far as she was concerned. Jeanie did her clinicals at St. Paul's in Dallas. Her first job was at Baylor Irving where she worked for 4 years. At the beginning of her nursing career, she worked in home health care in addition to her position at Baylor. She also volunteered with the Red Cross Disaster Response team where she responded to several emergencies to assist victims. Once again, like she does where ever she goes, she struck up life long friendships. Jeanie was a Christmas fanatic. She loved to decorate and was amazing at it. She could make any room look like it belonged in a department store window. Jeanie was happy, full of life, always joking, she held everything together, she was always respectful of others, she was dependable to a fault, always there with a shoulder for a friend if they needed, she never wanted anyone to be sad that her life on earth was over, she wanted this to be a celebration of her life, she loved flowers, she never regretted life or any decision she has made, loved electronics way too much, had way too many purses, always enjoyed going to Vegas, enjoyed traveling, always read the last chapter of a book first, just in case something happened and she was not able to finish. Jeanie would want to be remembered by her love of individuals, her ability to see people as they are and to love them for who they are. A Nurse's Prayer May I be a dedicated and caring nurse, Lord. May my HANDS be competent and soothing. May my SMILE be sincere and understanding. May my MANNER be warm and professional. May my HEART be compassionate and giving. and May my SPIRIT be hopeful and uplifting. |
