Obituary: Gloria Louise (Johnston) Carrington passed from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father on May 8, 2015, in Copperas Cove, TX. She was born on 7, 1938 to V.S. and Louise Johnston in Cisco, TX. Gloria was reared in Cisco and graduated from Cisco High School in 1956. She married the love of her life David Carrington on 2, 1960. later had four children Teresa, Steve, Sheree and Nathan. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Affectionately known as Memaw, she will be remembered for her loving personality. Her family and friends were the recipients of many of her hugs, kisses, and ooch-a-hatchies. Gloria had a servants spirit. She served 21 years as the Ladies Auxiliary President in the Texico District of the United Pentecostal Church. She and her husband pastored churches in Grants, NM, Levelland, TX, and Dumas, TX. Their longest pastorate was in Dumas where they served for 38 years before retiring in 2008. From a young age, she loved to play instruments in church. She was very talented at the accordion, piano and organ. Gloria worked as a substitute teacher in Dumas public schools. She was loved by the students and affected many lives there. She was also a homemaker and loved to sew and crochet for her family. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her loving husband David Carrington; her children Teresa (Donnie) Hendrick of Copperas Cove, TX, Steve (Sheila) Carrington of Farmington, NM, Sheree (Kent) Stover of Copperas Cove, TX, and Nathan (Rolanda) of Amarillo, TX; siblings Leon (Carolyn) Johnston, Randall (Sherry) Johnston, Linda (Marlin) Overman, and Elaine (Nathan) Gray; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Viewing will be from 5-7 PM on , May 11, 2015, at Crawford-Bowers , 211 W Avenue B, in Copperas Cove, TX. Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 AM on , May 12th at Copperas Cove United Pentecostal Church, 1302 Pecan Cove Dr., in Copperas Cove, TX, with Rev. Terry Pugh officiating. Doris was born on 8, 1926 in Jewett, TX to the late Alex and Alpheia Williams. She retired as a nurse from Hendrick Medical in 1988. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Glen Carrington; and a daughter, Doris Newman. Survivors include her sons, Samuel Carrington of Grand Prairie, TX and Joe Carrington, Sr. of Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Vernell Williams of Ft. Obituary: Bettye Ruth Carrington was born on 24, 1932 in Houston, Texas to the parentage of the late Evans and Lillie Mae Jordan. Bettye attended Houston Independent School District and later attended Prairie View A&M University where she met Colonel Reginald Wendell Carrington. Bettye worked as the Director of Child of Dallas for 23 years. She served as the Chairman of Deaconess at the “Exciting” Singing Hills Baptist Church for 30 years. Bettye answered the clarion call from her Lord and Savior on 28, 2017. Bettye was preceded in death by her mother Lille Mae Warren Jordan, Father Evans Jordan Sr., son, Reginald Kenneth Carrington; brother, Evans Jordan Jr., and sister, Bernice Green. In addition to her loving & devoted husband Colonel Reginald Wendell Carrington Deaconess Bettye leaves to cherish her loving son Wendell Dwight Carrington (Deborah). Devoted Granddaughter Kimeshia Carrington. Two beautiful Great Granddaughters Kendell Doyle Carrington Crawford and Karmyn LeAnne Erving. Bettye has one Dear Aunt Iley Warner. One sister Lois Gray, one Brother Harold Jordan both of Houston, Texas. One sister in law Erma Jordan Houston, Texas. One brother in law Doyle Carrington of Washington D.C. A very dear cousin Marcie Booker and special niece Erie Stelly and host of other relatives and friends.
