Obituary: David Bishop Cabe, age 70, of Austin, TX, passed away from the complications of ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease), on 22, 2017.

David was born in Temple, Texas to Ernest and Muriel Cabe on 15, 1947 and grew up in Austin, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from McCallum High School in 1965 and earned bachelors and masters degrees in engineering from the University of Texas. David, was a licensed professional engineer, practicing in the air pollution field for 44 years, and was highly regarded as an expert in air pollution meteorology and the atmospheric dispersion modeling of air pollutants. In 1994, he helped found Zephyr Environmental Corporation, where he served as its Principal Engineer.

David had an eclectic set of interests, with a love of history, travel, different cultures, languages, movies like the Blues Brothers and Uncle Buck, and classical, bluegrass, and folk music. To his mothers dismay, he was a flop at the piano, but he took up the guitar and the banjo and enjoyed singing and playing folk music to his children and grandchildren. David loved hiking, skiing, and weather events of all kinds, and was a proud member of the Buzzard Patrol of Boy Scout Troop 410 in Austin. And it would be a grave mistake to overlook his love of good puns.

David will be remembered for his humility, generosity, and compassion. For many years, he volunteered at the Austin Childrens Shelter, working with pre-school children. He also taught adult and childrens Bible classes, including classes for autistic children. A member of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, David sang in the chorus and helped in the churchs outreach to natural disaster victims and people needing handymen assistance. For many years he served as a Trustee of the Brentwood Christian School.

David is survived by his wife, Charliss, son Greg Cabe and his wife Kristin of wood, Alabama, daughter Amanda Carter and her husband Jason of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and grandchildren Carter Cabe, Emmy Cabe, Emily Carter, and Jackson Carter. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kate Cabe.

Visitation will be , 29th from 6 pm to 8 pm at Cook-Walden (6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78752).

services will be at 2 PM on , 30th, 2017 at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ (11908 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas 78753) followed by interment at Austin Memorial Park .

To leave condolence with the family please visit Davids online guest book at www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Austin Graduate School of Theology or the ALS Association of Texas would be appreciated.
