Obituary: Cowden, Mary S., age 89, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully at home 17, 2015. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Grainger . Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl A. Cowden; parents, William (Bill) and Gertie Shelton; five brothers, J. F. (Jay), Sydney, Leo, Lester and Clyde; two sisters, Ruth Baker and Hazel Sharp. Mary is survived by her sisters, Nada Lay, Pauline Harrell and Lucille Shelton, all of Grainger ; two nieces, Pat Majors and Sharon Cox; three nephews, Jerry Sharp, Stephen Lay, and Duane Harrell, and several great nieces and great nephews as well as great-great nieces and great-great nephews. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to caregivers Tracey, Kara and Tish as well as the attending staff of UT Medical Hospice Services. Mary enjoyed the many friendships made during her years of service as a decorator for S. H. Kress & Co. and as office manager at Standard Knitting Mills where she retired. The family will receive friends at Berry Lynnhurst , 2300 Adair Dr. from 4pm \ 6pm with the funeral to follow at 6 pm with Rev. Colin Scearce and Rev. Travis Proffitt officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Hill , 203 Elm Springs Rd., Washburn, TN 37888. Family and friends will meet 2 pm at Greenwood for the interment. Obituary: David Wayne Cowden, 51, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on 13 2015. He was a loving and caring man, willing to help others. Mr. Cowden attended Glen Alpine United Methodist Church until his health declined. He retired from Eastman in of 2015 after 24 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Smith Cowden; paternal grandparents, George and Gladys Cowden; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Rebecca Smith; uncle, Lynn Cowden. He is survived by his wife of 28 wonderful years, Lori Wilson Cowden; son, Daniel Cowden and his fiancé, Denise Pilz; father and step-mother, Wayne and Peggy Cowden; brothers, Bob (Carol) Cowden and Alan (Teresa) Cowden; nieces, Emiley Wilson and Caitlin (Zach) Hall; nephews, Shayne (Paige) Cowden, Austin Cowden, Nathan Cowden, Jeremy Cowden and Seth (Elisa) Wilson; aunts, France Adams and Teresa Cowden; and uncles Jerry Smith and Mikel (Carol) Smith. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., evening, 18, 2015 at East Lawn . Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of East Lawn with Pastor Ken LaDuke officiating and music provided by Jennifer Trent. A graveside service with entombment will be held at 11:00 a.m., , 19, 2015 at Mausoleum III of East Lawn Memorial Park.
