Obituary: Margaret Theresa Claxton, 93, of the Cedar Creek Community, passed away , 29, 2015 at her home. She was a retired interior decorator for Sears and Roebuck Co. Mrs. Claxton had previously attended Solomon Lutheran Church. Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law: Diane Tuggle of Denver, North Carolina, Susie and Dick Parkinson of Banner Elk, North Carolina, and Margaret J. Brown of Fall Branch, Tennessee; eight grandchildren including Teresa and Shawn Shelton of Greeneville, Tennessee; and eleven great grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl McCool and was preceded in death by her husband, Carmer F. Claxton, and several brothers and sisters. There will no visitation or services locally. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Warren Smith in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. |

Obituary: Evelyn Claxton, age 93, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, went to be with Him on morning, 14, 2015. She is survived by her devoted husband of 74 years, Cullom Claxton, who is eagerly waiting to join her. Cullom and Evelyn were still teenagers when they fell in love. God certainly smiled when, on a warm spring evening in 1940 on a bench by the tennis courts at Austin Peay , Cullom asked Evelyn for her hand in marriage. It was one of the great moments in all eternity, and we know the angels rejoiced. Evelyn loved her husband with a deep and passionate commitment for over 74 years. Evelyn will be greatly missed by her family, all of whom have enjoyed the benefits of her strong faith, her great wisdom, and her devoted prayer life. She regularly prayed for and is survived by her children, Anne Houston (Sam), David Claxton, Jane Claxton, and John Claxton (Vickie). She is survived by her grandchildren, Sam Claxton (Beth), Amy Claxton (Ryan Chang), and Ben Claxton (Alissa). grew up loving their MeMaw. She always made an effort to spend special time with each one. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Andrew, Abby, Isaac, Molly, Parker, Hannah, and Lucy. Evelyn taught us by word and example to love God, to study His word, to love your spouse, to do the right thing, to spend time communicating, to pray about everything, to enjoy family time, to laugh a lot, to look forward to heaven, and much more. She is now in glory. Mom, we love you. We miss you. We look forward to seeing you again and spending eternity with you. The family would like to give special honor to Evelyns daughter, Jane, for devoting the last few years of her life to caring for her mom. Thank-you, Jane. We also would like to thank the staff at McKendree Village for caring for Evelyn with such kindness. Visitation will be at 1:00 on , 19, at the chapel in McKendree Village, 4343 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN, 37076. A memorial service will follow at 2:00. Hermitage Memorial Gardens are handling the arrangements. |
