Obituary: Howard B. Chapman Howard B. Chapman, age 78 of Kingsport, formerly of West Virginia and Johnson City went to be with his Lord and Savior on , 18th, 2014 after a short illness. He passed away peacefully at Holston Manor with his loving family by his side as he took his last breath. Howard moved to Johnson City from West Virginia where he met the one whom he would marry and live happily with for almost sixty years. Howard worked for Rainbo Baking for 33 years. He and his wife Gene opened the Gazebo Party Shop in Downtown Kingsport in 1976. his retirement from Rainbo, he helped her in the store. He loved to play his guitar while customers shopped. loved it and he will always be remembered for that. When he wasn working at Gazebo, he would be working on cars or remodeling his houses. He would always tell people that work was his hobby. He was a faithful member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church. He was a greeter/door keeper which he loved doing. His personality and sweet nature made him the right person for the job. During his illness, many people reminded him of the good job he always did and how much they missed him there. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84: 10 Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Clyde Chapman; a sister, Margie and many aunts and uncles. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Norma Gene Luttrell Chapman; daughter, Janice Chapman of Kingsport; brother, Bill Chapman and wife Mary of Florida; sister, Debi Walling of Orlando, FL; nephews, Michael, Stephen and Christopher Chapman and niece, Diana, all of Florida; a very special aunt, Nancy La Fon and husband Jimmy of Ronceverte, WV; a special cousin, Kathi Judy of Ronceverte, WV; a special brother-in-law, Claude Luttrell of Johnson City; and a special sister-in-law, Madelyn Neal and husband Argil of Johnson City. He always loved his in-laws as if they were his own brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends on , 21st, 2014 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Lynn Garden Baptist Church, 301 May Avenue, Kingsport, TN (located behind Pals on Lynn Garden Drive. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Carl Strickler, officiating. The graveside service will be held , 22nd, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Section A at Oak Hill Memorial Park. (Those wishing to attend the service should plan on arriving at the cemetery no later than 10:45 AM.) We are deeply grateful to so many people who have comforted and cared for Howard during the difficult last stages of his life. A very special thank you goes to the doctors, nurses and CNAs at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical , South (especially Krissy), Holston Manor, the wonderful staff at Amedysis Hospice and Dr. David Franzus (who was always there for Howard); each of whom cared for him with love and great thoughtfulness. Obituary: Elton was a loving father, brother, uncle, “granddaddy,” great “granddaddy” and devoted friend. Elton passed 13, 2014. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Roberts; three grandchildren, Virginia, Anna, and Walter; and his great granddaughter, Valerie. Elton is also survived by his brother, Carl Chapman of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister, Freda Fowler of Ideal, Georgia; and niece, Laquita Thomas of Cumming, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Overby Chapman; father, George “Pop” Clyde; mother, Mable Jewell Chapman; and half brothers Calvin Chapman and Marvin Brown Chapman. Elton was born 3, 1929 in Ideal, Georgia and has resided in Nashville since 1960. Elton was a long time member of the Hillwood Country Club where loved to spend time with his friends playing cards or a enjoying a round of golf. Although Elton was a man with a strong set of values and pragmatic nature, he had a special way of making people feel valued and loved. His integrity, kindness and love for friends and family will be greatly missed. Celebration of Life Service will be , 17th at eleven thirty in Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall with visitation from three o’clock until six o’clock, and from ten o’clock until the service at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton . Pallbearers are Carl Chapman, Walter Roberts Jr., Reuben Farnsworth, Greg Bell, Ron Doss , and Matt Tyson. Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Pepper, Fred Long, Billy Bell, Gene Striblin and George Gianikas .
