She was a lifelong member of the Second Street Church of Christ, co-owner along with her husband and son of Giles Furniture in Pulaski, and was 80 years old. Obituary: If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Glen Doyle Carpenter. He was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to him because he was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around him had whatever they needed. Glen was a person who was tactful at all times but typically said what he meant. Glen was born on at home in Mooresburg, Tennessee. He was the son of Earl and Thelma Carpenter. Glen was raised in Mooresburg and Morristown, Tennessee. During his childhood he learned to be reliable and respectful. Glen was an obedient child who wanted to win the favor of others. He found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Glens personality throughout his life. Glen was raised with one sibling. He had one sister, Shirley. Glen and his sister had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another. As someone who reveled in the sheer joy of his experiences, Glen was always enthusiastic about new adventures. Although he had an exacting nature, Glen was always tactful. One thing Glen will certainly be remembered for is that, when he got up in the mornings, he was ready and raring to go. As a young boy, Glen had a number of interests and was an active child. Glen took part in baseball. He was a member of the Archery Club. In his spare time he liked to hunt, fish and go camping. For Glen, the school routines were never a problem although he generally preferred variety to structure. Glen was very observant and was generally quick at picking up new things. He graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1959. He enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. His favorite class in high school was biology. The teacher he enjoyed learning from the most was Mr. Robinson. There were things that all of Glens friends knew and will still remember about him, and that is that he was dependable, loyal and trustworthy. Glen was the kind of person who simply radiated good fellowship. While he maintained personal standards and his own personal values, Glen was very accepting of others. When Glen made friends, he made true and lasting friendships. While growing up, some of his best friends were Lloyd Byrd and Frank White. Later in life, he became friends with Monroe Miller and Clarence Howerton. Glen was a faithful and loving person. His kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around him. Glen cared for what others thought and carried that into his marriage. On 24, 1961 Glen married Georgia Mae Gorman at the courthouse in Sneedville, Tennessee. Compassionate and devoted, Glen worked hard to make his new wife happy. Harmony was important to Glen and he made every effort to maintain it with his family. Glen was blessed with three children, one daughter, Renee and two sons, Tim and Brian. were also blessed with eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Shauna, Elizabeth, Brandon, Tyler, Jessica, Tasha and Rodney and four great-grandchildren. He was reasonable and understanding. As a result, Glen was quick to solve disputes and did so without much fuss. Taking his work seriously came naturally to Glen, and he expected the same from those around him. Glen was a good team player, someone who was born to cooperate with others. Glen was a steady worker, one who was realistic about schedules. He could understand the details without getting lost in the broad ig picture. His primary occupation was construction supervisor. He was employed for 37 years by Atmos Energy Corporation. He brought harmony to his work environment, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done, while always maintaining respect for his colleagues. A methodical man, Glen enjoyed spending time working on his various hobbies. He had no problem following all of the steps and instructions on a given project and was proud of the fact that he could have something to show for his efforts. His favorite pursuits were hunting, fishing and restoring old cars. Glen was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth his best effort. Glen was always enthusiastic and a great team player. In high school, Glen played baseball. Glen was also a big sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite teams whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were wrestling, hunting, fishing and sports shows. His high moral standards and traditional values served Glen well with his faith. Religion and faith were important to him. He was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church for 56 years. He was well respected because he was such an outgoing individual who sought to help in any manner he could. Glen enjoyed traveling. He rarely tired of going back and revisiting his favorite places. Favorite vacations included Myrtle Beach, SC and camping at the lake. Glen was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Samson, a Collie and r, a parakeet, who were his companions for 14 years. Glen retired in 2007. In retirement, he found new pleasure in spending time with his great-grandchildren. Even in retirement, Glen stayed in touch with his old friends and made plenty of new acquaintances. He felt fulfilled with the opportunities that retirement offered him. Glen passed away on 21, 2009 at Morristown Hamblen care System in Morristown, Tennessee. Glen fought a brave battle against diabetes. He is survived by his wife, Georgia; children, Renee, Tim and Brian; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services were held at Stubblefield . Obituary: Francis D. "Don" Carpenter, Jr., 62, passed away on 25, 2010. He was a veteran of the United States Marines. graduation from Catholic High School in 1966, he joined the Marines and from 1967 thru 1968 served time as a tunnel rat and sniper scout in Vietnam. He recently retired from the Memphis Police Dept. where he worked as a civilian employee Crime Scene Tech. Throughout his 30 years with the MPD he continued his education which helped him perfect his craft. During his tenure he received numerous letters of recognition, letters of commendation and letters of thanks and appreciation from not only the Memphis Police Department, but also from the FBI, the TBI, the District Attorney General and the West Tennessee Judicial Violent Crimes Drug Task Force for his tireless dedication to the citizens of Memphis. He is survived by two brothers, Ed Carpenter and Ron Carpenter of Texas and a sister, Sharron Shylo of Memphis. A gathering in his memory will be , 1, between 4-8 p.m. at Memphis and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue.
