Obituary: Gilda H. Crane, 89, widow of James Ross Crane II passed away on 10, 2015. She was born in Danielsville, Georgia on 20, 1925, the youngest of eight children by the late Eugene and Stella Hardman. Gilda was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and The Greenville Women's Club. Together with her dear friend Jim Bowen, Gilda enjoyed travel, crossword puzzles and Atlanta Braves Baseball. Mrs. Crane took great pleasure in "simple things" and gift-giving. As a retired teacher, she encouraged others to pursue higher education and adopt a strong work ethic. Surviving are her two sons, James Ross Crane III and Steven Aubrey Crane (Heidi); two grandchildren, James Ross Crane IV (Renee) and Erica Nicole Smoak (Fletcher); a granddaughter, Madison Aubrey Smoak and 16 nephews and nieces. Donations in her honor may be contributed to The South Carolina Alzheimers Association and Greenville Humane Society. A private memorial to celebrate for Gilda's life will be scheduled in at the residence of Steve and Heidi Crane on 208 Bridgewater Drive. |

Obituary: Geraldine Peedin Crane, 95, born in Johnson , NC, passed away May 25, 2015 in Anderson. She was the daughter of the late Millard Graham Peedin and Minnie Creech. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and for the past ten years had many friends and acquaintances at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James T. Crane; eight brothers and sisters: Mildred Thompson, Marie White, Penny Hales, Lela Strickland William, Millard, Owen and Noble Peedin. She is survived by two daughters; Lynn Cantrell (Glenn) and Joyce Hawkins (Mike); one son Dr. Jeff Crane (Donna); nine grandchildren Paige Cantrell (Greg) Pulley, Mary Hawkins, Rachel Hawkins ( Jayson) Wolcott, Austin (Megan) Crane, David, Anna Kate, Natalie, Nathan and Lera Crane; and one great grandchild Julie Maye Wolcott. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The family would like to express sincere appreciation and thanks to her Angel Mary Arnold for 25 years of loving care and friendship. He was born in Greenville to William and Essie Sanders Crane. Mr. Crane proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was self-employed, owning B&S Dry Cleaners on Washington Street, Abbeville for 13 years and other various businesses. Mr. Crane was a former member of the Abbeville Zoning Board and an avid, nationally recognized chess player. He was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church. Mr. Crane is survived by his wife, Sara, of 42 years of the home; three sons, Lowry Wayne Crane of Wichita Falls, TX, Doug Jackson and his wife, Jaime of Chattanooga, TN, and David Jackson and his wife, Mary Helen of High Point, NC; brother, Herbert Crane and his wife, Peggy of California; sister, Brenda Jones and her husband, Johnny of Greenville, SC; ten grandchildren, Ben, Ashley, Kelsey, Darby, Eric, Sharon, Joshua, Joseph David, Zackery, and Stephen Hunter; and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Natalie, Daniel, and James.
