Obituary: David Wilson Coker, 71, of North Charleston, SC, retired Magistrate for Charleston and widower of Lisa Brezeale Coker entered into eternal rest , 4, 2017. His funeral service will be held , 8, 2017 in First Baptist Church of North Charleston, 4217 Rivers Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Northwoods Chapel. David was born May 23, 1946 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Charlie Neadham Coker and Lillian Stone Coker. He attended Baptist (now Charleston Southern University). He served as a City Councilman for North Charleston, and was a former member of the Charleston Constituent School Board. David was a longtime and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of North Charleston and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #2. He is survived by his son, David Alan Coker (Kim) of Hanahan, daughter, Stacey Goretzka (David) of Daniel Island and their mother Barbara Coker of North Charleston; step daughter, Jennifer Renee Young of Summerville; three brothers; Charles Heyward Coker of GA, Ronald Gordon Coker of Mt. Pleasant, and Dale Arnold Coker of Thailand, four grandchildren, Skylar, Jocelyn, Olivia, and Avery; dear friends and caretakers, Gigi Russ of North Charleston and Debbie Reeves of Summerville. David is predeceased by his brothers Malcolm Levern Vern Coker and Gerald Rogers Coker. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of North Charleston, 4217 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29405. |

Obituary: Claude Lee Coker, Jr., 88, of Greenville, passed away 11, 2015, following a brief illness. Born in Greenville , he was the son of the late Claude Lee Coker, Sr. and Mary Stansell Coker. He served our country in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant from 1945-1947. Claude retired after 36 years of service with Steel Heddle. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are his beloved wife of 67 years, Juanita Dryman Coker; his devoted children, Michael L. Coker; Marcia Raines and Melinda Bruce and her husband Gary; his precious granddaughter, Lyndsey Coker Sloan and her husband Stephen; and he adored his two great granddaughters, Maddie and Anna Clare. He is also survived by his loving sister Carolyn Coker Doan and her husband Bill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Claude was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Thomas “JT” Coker. services will be held , 13, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary, officiated by Reverend Paul Crews and Reverend David Shirley. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends afternoon from 12:30 – 1:45pm at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 255 W. Mountain Creek Church Road, Greenville, SC 29609; or to Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Billy Williams, for his friendship and faithfulness to our Mom and Dad every day. |

Obituary: Bruce Edward Coker (Big Ed), U.S. Navy Retired Senior Chief Petty Officer, husband of Mary Catherine (Kay) Coker, departed this life on , the 6th of . Born Dec 18, 1946 in Lafollette TN. Ed was a loving father, husband and a great friend to many. His Military service included Security at the Pentagon before receiving orders for Vietnam, also serving aboard 9 surface ships and stood shore duty in all corners of the globe before Retiring from service in 1985. A couple of the highlights in life were seeing Bob Hope visiting the troops, Playing football for the Navy’s European League in Spain/Italy, and was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football. He also enjoyed being a Scout master & was a Football & Baseball coach for both of his sons. Big Ed was also a gun enthusiast & an avid Hunter. retiring from Military Service he worked with Alumax/Alcoa Aluminum at the Mount Holly Plant in Goose Creek, SC until finally retiring in 2004 Ed, in his later years, was often referred to as Santa, due to the Striking resemblance to Santa Claus, and would be approached & asked by children on many occasions, if he were the real thing… His answer was always (with a smile) “Yes… that’s me… “Family and Friends are invited to attend his Service on 13, 2015 at 12.00 P.M. at Carolina Memorial Chapel.
