Obituary: George Norris Corbitt, 91, longtime resident of Elk City, Oklahoma passed away, 8, 2014 at Great Plains Regional Hospital in Elk City. Norris was born on 13, 1923 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Paul and Clara (Keener) Corbitt. He graduated from Elk City High School in 1942. Soon after high school, Norris, joined the U.S. Corp of Engineers as a laborer in Alaska. In 1943 he returned home and joined the United States Army serving in the European Theater until the war ended. In 1946 Norris moved to New York City and studied at the Traphagen School of Fashion and Design. completion of his studies, he was hired as a fashion and window dresser for John A. Brown in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1950 Norris married Delva Curley Kelley. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they owned and operated a motel for many years. In the 1980s they moved back home to Elk City where Norris helped his sister, Ruth, operate her cattle ranch near Cheyenne, Oklahoma. During this time, Delva, became ill. Norris was a faithful caregiver until her death in 2006. In 2007 he met Jimmie Grace VanVacter at a Historic Broadway owners meeting. were married in 2008 in the Old Town Chapel in Elk City by Rev. Danny Ringer. Jimmie Grace and Norris were members of the First Baptist Church of Elk City, Oklahoma. It was there, in 2008, Norris rededicated his life to Christ. He attended church regularly until his failing health prevented him from doing so. Norris was very gifted and talented. He had many interests and an insatiable curiosity. He was exceptionly musical and enjoyed playing the piano, harmonica and harp. He loved and excelled in the arts. He was also a gourmet chef and delighted in entertaining. Norris was skilled in landscaping with flowers and ornamental shrubs. His flower gardens were admired by everyone who knew him. He was an avid reader and in his latter years, he would read several books each week. He was never without the Wall Street journal and was always keeping abreast of current happenings on the world stage. Norris will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Norris is survived by his wife, Jimmie Grace, of the home; his step-children, Rev. Ben VanVacter and wife, Jeanie of Mustang, Oklahoma, Leon Ramsey of Glennville, West Virginia and Veronica Hill of Elk City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Houston Hill, Wyatt Hill, Karel Bobo, Kasey Kraybill, Cameron Wenneker, Trey Ramsey and Jessica Ramsey; great grandchildren, Cole Bobo and Cally Bobo; brother-in-laws, Duane Kelley and wife, Joan of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Donnie Kelly of Claude, Texas; Sister-in-law, Wanda Davis of Amarillo, Texas, Mertes Goodin and husband Gale of Claude, Texas, Betty Hatter of Elk City, Oklahoma, Travonna Wootton and husband, Verlin of Willow, Oklahoma; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his first wife, Delva and his sister, Ruth Corbitt Jones. services will be , 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Elk City, Oklahoma with Rev. Danny Ringer, Rev. Ben VanVacter, and Rev. Milton Gage will be officiating. Interment will follow in Fairlawn . Services are under the direction of Martin-Dugger of Elk City, Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Norris Corbitt to Meals on Wheels of Elk City or Gideons International Bibles in care of Martin-Dugger , 600 W. Obituary: EJ Corbin, 98, was born southwest of El Reno, Oklahoma to Otto and Gladys Corbin. He grew up on the farm with his parents and sister Daisy. In 1937 on his 19th birthday, he joined the US Navy and began a 30 year career. He retired in 1967 as a CWO3 after serving in 3 wars and on 11 ships including the USS Winged Arrow which was involved in the battle at IwoJima. He married Peggy Stanfill in 1966 and after retiring from the Navy worked for the State of Oklahoma as an officer for the ABC Board (now the ABLE Commission) for 12 years. a few years as a realtor, he truly retired and enjoyed life as a grandfather, teaching his grandkids woodworking skills, playing checkers and teaching them to make the best pancakes. EJ Corbin was a patriot, husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of faith in Jesus. We find great comfort in knowing he is reunited with his wife, Peggy, but most importantly that he is now in the presence of Father God. EJ is survived by his daughter, Laryssa Lalli and her husband Dino and their children Dante, Alexa May & Joseph; daughter-in-law, Renella Corbin and step-children Karen Becker, Jerry Freeland, Nancy Merrill, and Paul Freeland; as well as many grand and great-grandchildren. |

Obituary: Charles Charlie William Corbin, age 74, went to be with the Lord on 20, 2017 at his home in Yukon. He was born on 15, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Carl and Evajane Corbin. He graduated from NW Classen High school in Oklahoma City and studied numerous classes at vo-techs. Charlie served in the United States Army as a military policeman. Most of his service was given in Germany. Charlie worked in the air-conditioning service for many years. He retired from CMI Corporation as a CNC Programmer. Charlie was an active and loyal member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Yukon. For the last 3 years he was a faithful participant in the Kairos prison ministry. Charlies true love was his wife Sue. would have been married 38 years on 5th. His second love was family. He was not a talkative person but he loved listening to all the chatter around him. Charlie cherished all of the pets that we have had over the 38 years from rabbits, cats, dozens of fish, 1 duck and umpteen dogs. He was also an avid fisherman. When someone, young or old, said lets go fishing his first question was, what time? and he started loading up the truck. a massive stroke in 2004 he had just a 2% chance of making it through the night. We were blessed to have him around to create memories for another 13 years. the stroke he came home & Sue told him he had a new hobby of scroll sawing. To all of the wonderful people who bought crosses, pictures, and plaques, and to the many others who were given crosses, please know that he loved making every last one of them. For him it was not a chore but a blessing to create for everyone. Charlie was preceded in death by both of his parents and 2 infant siblings. He is survived by his loving wife Sue and their pets Daisy May and Benjie Corbin, a daughter Christie Mitchell of Oklahoma City, a son Buddy and wife Tasha of Yukon. His memory will be cherished by his 6 grandchildren, Madison, Jacob, Cody, Chloe, Journey, & Legacie. Charlie was also graciously blessed with 3 great-grandchildren, Makena, Karson, Kaysen and another that is due in . Charlie, you were so loved and will be missed by many many people.
