Obituary: Norman James Chesley of Pacific Grove died peacefully at Del Monte Assisted Living on 29, 2012. Born in Lawrence, MA, to Dr. Alfred and Geneva James Chesley on Sept. 21, 1919, he graduated from Lawrence High School and, in 1941, Dartmouth . He briefly attended New York University Medical School, but in 1943 enlisted as an Army Private. His World War ll service was primarily with the 63rd Infantry Division and the Counter Intelligence Corps, in France, Germany and Japan. being recalled for two years of duty for the Korean War, he then remained in the Army Reserves until retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1979. He received the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and Paratrooper Wings. Most of his adult life was spent in Europe, where he taught both U.S military and United Nations personnel, often in Rome. His last employment was with Opinion Research in Princeton, NJ. Throughout the years, he called Majorca, Japan, Ravello, Italy, Big Sur, CA, and Princeton, NJ, his home. He was a man of ideas, a scholar who relished the study of philosophy. His ongoing quest for uncovering the "essence" of human life kept his mind happily engaged for decades. Normans vast and eclectic collection of books was literally a towering monument to his interest in ideas. He was an early advocate for the benefits of long walks, eating yogurt, and living in exceptionally beautiful places that lifted and fed the spirit. Norman loved good food (but never learned to boil water) and beautiful women, so many a relationship with a female was begun and developed at her well-laden table. He remained single all of his life and is survived by his cousin Betty Campbell of Hopkinton, MA, and by nieces Nancy Roberts of Vancouver, BC, Canada, and Diana Roberts, Islesboro, Maine, and his nephew Peter Roberts of New York City. |

Obituary: It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Peter Cheski, MD, FRCS of Beverly Hills on 3, 2010. Dr. Cheski completed his medical degree, his internship and his residency in Canada from the University of Western Ontario, and came to Los Angeles in 1997 where he obtained a Fellowship in cosmetic plastic surgery. He was an extraordinarily talented cosmetic surgeon and professional mentor. He pioneered and taught many innovative surgical techniques and is credited with the development of the ground breaking umbilical breast augmentation procedure. Dr. Cheski was named by the Consumers Research Council of America in Washington D.C. as one of Americas top surgeons and as one of Americas top plastic surgeons. At the time of his passing Dr. Cheski was president-elect of the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery. He will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues, patients and family. He is survived by his father Carl and wife Marilyn Cheski of Oshawa Canada, mother Chris and partner William Peel of London Canada, and his brother Martin, wife Renate and niece Lily all of Vancouver, Canada. There will be a Memorial Service , Sept. 9, 2010 at 5PM at Pierce Brothers Memorial Gardens in Westwood followed by a later service and burial in Oshawa, Canada. |
