She was surrounded by a loving family consisting of four brothers, four sisters and as well as two wonderful parents. enjoyed a simple life and endured the many tragedies and hardships of the Great Depression and WWII. She never dwelled on these aspects, but would recount the many happy memories she had growing up in a large family taking care of the farm animals they had as well as each other. We would later find out that mom would consistently win swing dance competitions on a regular basis. She met and eventually married Herman Phillip Chenier on 6/16/46 and shortly after moved to California. celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Moms greatest joy in life was caring for people, especially her family. One could never leave our home without having something delicious to eat she had prepared, because somehow she always convinced you that you were hungry even though you had just eaten something before you got there. She also had a way of carrying sincere, thoughtful conversations filled with laughter throughout. She was an easily approachable woman whom enjoyed any opportunity to engage with people. Our mom was a straight shooter whom had a strong sense of right and wrong and was steadfast in her Catholic faith. You always knew where you stood with her.whether you wanted to or not! She was solid and confident in her strengths, as well as morals, and embodied a steely determination that was tempered with a soft and tender heart. She was the consummate wife and mother whom always put her familys needs before hers. If we thought she spent all her love on her children, Phil Larry and Donna, we were mistaken, for when her 6 grandchildren came along, Warren, Blake, Michelle, Stuart, Keith and Hunter; she was over the moon with happiness for there were more for her to love. When she learned of the coming of her first great grandchild she was beyond overjoyed and would count the days to her arrival. Mom managed to love Presley enough in three months to last a lifetime. We all miss our mother/grandmother and great grandmother more than words can say. Her loving husband Herman will miss his dancing partner. She was the glue that held us together, the voice of reason in times of confusion, our pillar of strength when we were tired or weak, our safe harbor in times of storms, a loving warm blanket when reassurance was needed. She gave of herself unconditionally, endlessly and happily her entire life. What a wonderful example of a perfect role model. We will all be eternally grateful for the woman she was and will do our best to follow in her footsteps. We know that she is happy and resting comfortably with the Angels.in between care giving, dancing and cooking for all in Heaven. |
