Obituary: Oscar was just shy of 95 years young and died of natural causes in the care of Loving Assisted Living in Palm Desert, California. Oscar was born in Lawrence, Mass. in 1921 to Joseph Centi and the former Anna Fusco who married and immigrated from Italy in the early 1900s. The family of five including his two older sisters Lee and Kay moved to San Francisco, California in the early 1920s where Oscar grew up and was a 1939 graduate of Balboa High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He married the former Verbal Lois Gunter in 1950 and they moved to San Jose, California where they raised their four children; Larry, Marla, Tim and Amy. He semi-retired a single man to North Lake Tahoe in the mid 1970s. He went to work for Royal Cruise Lines in the late 1980s as a shipboard Host which he really enjoyed, cruising all over the world. During one of his cruises he met and eventually married the former Donna Cartwright, at which point he retired for good to Marrakesh Country Club in Palm Desert, CA. He loved the desert life style, especially dinner and dancing at the Country Club. Always a picture of health he played tennis and golf well into his 80s and enjoyed many more cruises with Donna. His passion was camping and fishing the Sierra, especially Robinson Creek near Bridgeport, CA. He leaves behind his wife Donna and his four children: Larry Centi (Pamela), Marla Holveck (Wayne) their two daughters Sarah and Molly, Tim Centi (Debbie), their daughter Melissa Liserra (Justin) and son Darren and Amy Huber and two Great-Grandchildren Duke and Dean Liserra. He was a good man, the best father, son and husband he knew how to be. He believed strongly in the value of common courtesy, good manners and respect for others.
