Obituary: Francis H. Carberry May 06, 1930 \ 2, 2014 Fran was born in Sharon, CT. as the eleventh of thirteen children to Joseph and Lena Carberry. At age 21 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Boom Operator refueling military aircraft at high altitudes. being honorably discharged, Fran with his wife Dorothy who he met on a blind date in 1952 started a family and moved to Azusa, Ca. lived there for 46 years before relocating to Banning in 2001. Frans gentleness and kindness for others was reflected through all aspects of his life. First and foremost he was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle. He cherished his family as they did him. He was a dedicated employee of Whites in Azusa, compassionately serving the community as a Director for over 35 years. Fran enjoyed volunteering for community events especially the Azusa Golden Days Parade. He was a Brother of Aerie #2810 Fraternal Order of Eagles for over 40 years as well as a member of the Kiwanas International, both organizations dedicated to the medical and educational needs of children. He gave unselfishly of himself never looking for accolades. He was a soft-spoken, gentle giant who will be in our hearts forever. Fran is survived by the love of his life for the last 61 years, his wife Dorothy, his son Ron (MovaLee), his daughter Roberta (Bill), 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Weaver Mortuary Chapel, 1177 Beaumont Ave. Beaumont, CA. on 14, 2014 at 11:00am. |

Obituary: Beverly Joan Carbaugh, age 79, fourth generation Californian and Pacific Grove native died peacefully 14, 2013 of natural causes. Born 2, 1934 in Pacific Grove, Joan was the only child of Lucille Laughton Bambauer and Ferdinand Souther Bambauer. Her childhood years were spent in Pacific Grove and she enjoyed summer holidays at White Rock Lake in Carmel Valley. When her father volunteered to serve during WWII, she and her mother moved to accommodate the needs of being a naval family. the war ended, and the death of her father, she and her mother lived in Oregon. Joan graduated from The Dalles High School and attended the University of Oregon and San Jose State where she earned a BA in English and received a teaching certificate. Joan married twice. Her first marriage was to David Browne. met in college and married right after graduation. Together, they had two daughters: Lorraine, born in Napa, and Bev, born in Sacramento. Those years were marked by Joan being a teacher of ballet and tap dance, a Girl Scout leader, an active member of her daughters school communities, camping and homemaking. Her second marriage was to Robert Carbaugh in 1975. their divorce, she moved back to her beloved Pacific Grove in 1994. Joans work included teaching elementary school, substitute teaching for all grades in the Sacramento Unified School District, and working for 18 years in the Consumer Affairs Division of the Bureau of Automotive Repair. She was proud to say that she was one of the first state workers to use a computer on a regular basis! Joan led a rich and complicated life. She loved to travel and enjoyed musical theatre, dancing and reading good books. She was true to herself, generous, exuberant and candid. Joan loved her friends and family unequivocally and had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Joan is survived by her daughters, Lorraine Leedy and Bev Schubert; six grandchildren, Mariah Holdsworth, Nathaniel Holdsworth, Darin Leedy, Eli Browne, Drew Leedy and Jack Schubert; one great-grandson, McKinley Jelmini; her uncles, Eugene Grant and Robert Grant; and her cousins, John Laughton, Joyce Baker, Diane Meyer and James Laughton. A memorial service will be held at The Little Chapel by-the-Sea (65 Asilomar Blvd., Pacific Grove) on , 19, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. A celebration of Joans life will follow at Point Pinos Grill. The family would like to express gratitude to the kind folks at Canterbury Woods where she lived for the past several years, and for the physicians and nurses at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for the tender care they provided her last few days. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the donors favorite charity. |
