Obituary: Paul W. Coursen NEW BERN | Paul W. Coursen went to be with his Lord 19, 2014, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born 6, 1937 in Barkeyville, Pa. to Clinton and Carrie Coursen. He was the next to youngest and last surviving sibling of eight brothers and sisters. Paul is survived by his wife of six years, Linda; sons, Randy of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Barbara Ludwig and husband Tim of New Bern and Gretchen Kelley and husband Thomas of Thomasville; granddaughter, Taylor Romans and husband Kito of New Bern; and grandson, Jeremy Durbin and fiance Ashley Hedgecock of Charlotte. He was also a loving stepfather to Lindas four children and 13 grandchildren. Paul worked most of his life as a buyer in various bus companies and retired from TW Phillips Gas and Oil in Pennsylvania. He moved to New Bern in 2005 and became part of the community. Paul was a Master Mason of the AF&AM Masonic Lodge since 1963 and a proud member of the Sudan Shriners. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the New Bern Shrine Club. Paul graduated high school from Victory High School in Harrisville, Pa. in 1955 and was valedictorian of his graduating class. He played sports as a young man and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Paul was a kind gentle man who loved life, loved animals, especially his dog Dillon, and loved his family and friends. He was quick to assist anyone who needed his help and always offered his sage advice when appropriate. Paul will be missed by his loving family but he will live on forever in their hearts. A celebration of his life will be held at Cotten at 11 a.m. , 24, 2014. The family will receive friends at Cotten from 6 to 8 p.m. , 23, 2014. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children-Greenville, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605, attention Donor Development. Condolences may be made to the Coursen family at www.cottenfuneralhome.com. Cotten is assisting the family with arrangements. |

Obituary: Maggie Valley – Germaine Rita Maisonneuve Courchene, age 88, passed away on , 15, 2014 at her summer residence. A native of Windsor, Ontario Canada, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and MarieAnge Lamarche Maisonneuve. She was a graduate of the University of Ottawa Canada and received a degree in Education. A devoted wife and mother, she cherished her role as a homemaker. Germaine possessed quiet dignity and elegance. Her smile and gentle heart will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Luc Courchene; three daughters, Diane Mitchell and her husband, Gary, of Niceville, Florida, Janet Little and her husband, Vince, of Boca Raton, Florida, and Lynne Keevan and her husband, Patrick, of Naples, Florida; a son, Paul Courchene and his partner, Jim Luckie, of Delray Beach, Florida; one brother, John Maisonneuve, of Montreal Quebec, Canada; and seven wonderful grandchildren; Gregory, Erica and Carolyn Mitchell, Monica and Haley Little and Danielle and Allison Keevan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on , 18, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells with Father Richard Benonis officiating. The family will host a reception immediately following in the James Room of the Wells Events and Reception .
