Obituary: Durham, George Edward Conner, Jr., age 33, passed away on , 10, 2017 at Duke University Medical . A native of Buncombe he was the son of George Edward Conner and Nancy Morris. George was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Betty Jean Conner. George had the most beautiful smile that was full of life. His passions were cooking, sketching, and video games. Although his time here was short, he will forever be remembered in our hearts. George is survived by his parents, George Conner, Sr., and his wife, Becky, of Clyde; mother, Nancy Gibson, of Texas; paternal grandfather, Lloyd Conner, of Balsam; maternal grandmother, Betty Gibson, of Kansas; girlfriend, Catlin Ryan, of Durham; step-grandparents, r and Marie James, of Clyde; two sisters, Jenny Conner and her fiancé, Dylon Ingle, and Contessa Long, all of Clyde; brother, Cody Conner, and girlfriend, Ayla Mathis, of Waynesville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on , 14, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells with Reverend George Dewitt officiating. Obituary: Waynesville, Floyd Edward Conner, Sr., 86, of Hall Top Road, passed away on , 11, 2017 at his home. A native of Jackson , he was the son of the late John and Evia Reece Conner and was also preceded in death by two infant brothers and a son-in-law, Carroll Beck. He was a corporal in the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Conners Garage and enjoyed making fiddles and tending to his cattle. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Annie Smith Conner; five daughters, Joyce Beck, Katherine Cochran (Charlie), Martha Smith (Thomas), Mary Cogdill (Robert) and Libbie Shelton (Ricky); six sons, Steve Conner (Jean), Keith Conner, Floyd Conner Jr. (Cathy), John Conner (Tanya), Don Conner (Thomasine), and Michael Conner, all of Waynesville; four sisters, Leona Smith, Ella Mae May, Isabelle Norris and Helen Inman; three brothers, Lloyd, Troy and Raymond Conner; 26 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on , 14, 2017 at Barberville Baptist Church with Reverend Kristopher Estep and Reverend Ned Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church will Military Honors. The family will receive friends on from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wells of Waynesville, and at other times, at the home. Memorials may be made to Barberville Baptist Church, 1441 Russ Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786. |
