Obituary: William Gobel Campbell passed away at home on , 30, 2012, after a heroic battle with an aggressive form of lung cancer. He was a non-smoker. With him at the time of his death were his loving wife, Debbie, and his devoted sister-in-law, Cindy. William, or Bill, as his friends called him, was born in Columbus, Ohio, on 24, 1938, to William G. Campbell, Esq. and Zula Campbell. He graduated from Long Beach State University and received a Masters Degree in Finance from USC and, then, in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. In 1976, he met the love of his life, Debbie Crain, and they were married in Ventura, California, 31, 1980. Bill became President of Santa Paula Savings and Loan, a position he held for twelve years. Later in his career, he turned his interests to philanthropic organizations. For fifteen years he was Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for Channel Islands YMCA, and, most recently, he served as the Chief Executive Officer for Ventura Community Action for four years. Ever the hard worker and conscientious supervisor, Bill continued to work from home until the day before his passing. Though large in stature, Bill had an unassuming demeanor and engendered a sense of affection from his employees, co-workers, friends, and all who knew him. Bill was also a guiding presence to his sister-in-law, Cindy and niece, Noel, after the untimely passing in 1994 of his brother-in-law, Gregory Sugimura M.D., at the age of 49 due to stomach cancer. Bill was a much loved son-in-law to the late Ruth Crain (deceased 2009, age 94), whom he helped care for in her later years. Throughout his life, Bill was able to travel much of the world, thanks in part to his parents adventurous spirit. He and Debbie also shared this passion for traveling, and their adventures took them to Egypt, Greece, Turkey, Japan, China, and Europe, though they enjoyed returning to their favorite destination: Hawaii. Bill also enjoyed Debbies love of dogs, and together they bred several top winning champion English Cocker Spaniels. He accompanied Debbie on many dog show judging assignments across the United States. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Zula Campbell; sister Nina Swagerty; brother-in-law Dr. Gregory Sugimura; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Charles Crain. He is survived by his ever loving wife of 32 years, Debbie; sister-in-law, Cindy Sugimura; niece, Dr. Noel Sugimura; brother-in-law, Thomas Swagerty; nephew, Patrick (Shirley) Swagerty; niece, Karen (Jeff) Swagerty; grandnephew, Jordan Swagerty; grandniece, Shelby Swagerty; niece, Kristina (Joss) Kimball; and grandnieces Brandee, Haydyn, Naomie, and Eszther. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the following individuals who greatly assisted in helping to care for Bill: from Assisted Hospice, Shari (RN), Jason (CNA), Edwin (CNA), Jose (HHA), and Gonzalo (CNA); and friend, Miguel Luna. A memorial service to celebrate Bills life will be held , 12, 2012, 2:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr , 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating. Obituary: William Fourtney Campbell, born 26, 1949, passed away suddenly from metastatic kidney cancer on the morning of 29, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was the son of William Fredrick Campbell and Laverna Freida Fourtney Campbell and grew up in Montebello, California. Bill met and married the love of his life, Alison on 16, 1985. Bill became a loving husband and father of three children, Tracy, Brooke and Christopher. Bill was a man devoted to his family and loyal and true to his friends. Humble, intelligent, capable, generous, reliable, kind, brave, and passionate are a few words to describe Bill. Bill was a history buff and in high school challenged himself to read a complete set of encyclopedias which he did. He was one of the youngest boys to be awarded his Eagle Scout on 20, 1965; at the age of just 16. Bill still holds the Javelin throw record at Montebello High School. Bill ran cross country and played baseball in high school as well. While attending Cal Poly Pomona State University he ran track. Bill received a Bachelor of Science degree in urban planning from Cal Poly Pomona and worked as a City Planner and at times as an Assistant City Manager before moving to Sacramento. While working for the city of La Canada Flintridge, Bill helped the Governor preserve the Cherry Canyon wilderness area in Southern California. For the past 17 years, Bill has happily worked for Pacific Municipal Consultants as an Urban Planner throughout Northern California. Bill had many hobbies and talents. His love for history continued throughout his life and he was an expert in American history and especially World War II history. Bill could read any map. He was great to have along on hikes, or distant travel, camping or wilderness treks. He also had a passion for the mechanical workings of most machines and could restore to working order anything from the smallest watch to a large appliance or car. Additionally skilled at home restoration, construction, and design he was a friend everyone liked to have around. Bill generously assisted his friends in their home restoration projects, repairs and designs. While living in Monrovia, California Bill and Alison worked to renovate and restore their 1887 Victorian home. This project took 10 years. Moving to Sacramento provided Bill with another opportunity to fulfill his passion for home projects. He loved working on his current home and had just completed adding crown molding to their middle bathroom just last week. He had an engineer's mind and huge loving heart. Bill believed in philanthropic work and was a member and docent for the Monrovia Historical Society from 1987-1997; volunteering each year for the Mothers Day Old Tour. In the community Bill was best known for his volunteer coaching of a variety of youth sports including soccer, T-ball, and baseball. As a coach Bill enjoyed winning (of course) but was more committed to advancing the skill level and the love of the sport for each child. Bill also served on the Granite Bay High School lacrosse board of directors. Bill has been known to hand sew lacrosse nets back together at night after work to get ready for the next practice. Bill enjoyed sports, photography, gardening, scuba diving, motorcycles (his BMW), historical home restoration, travel, and the great outdoors. Bill saw beauty and wonder in the smallest things in life such as hummingbirds and roses. Bill made coffee every morning for his wife and on weekends would arrange freshly cut roses for her. He loved to watch his son Chris play football and lacrosse, drink fine wine, eat great food, vacation in Hawaii, watch action movies, spend time with his family and bestow random acts of kindness upon his friends and loved ones. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Fredrick Campbell and Laverna Freida Fourtney Campbell. Bill leaves behind his wife, Alison, daughter Tracy Marie Allen Campbell (James Hulshof), daughter Brooke Michelle Campbell and son Christopher Scott Campbell, brother Brian Campbell (Theresa). The memorial service will be held on the 4th of : 12pm at Valley Springs Presbyterian Church in Roseville California (address) 2401 Olympus Drive Roseville, CA.
