Obituary: Harry L Cochrane, 78, "Laddie", of Apex, NC died at his home on 10th, 2015 surrounded by family and following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 24th, 1937 in the Philipsburg, PA to Harry N and Mary (Shannon) Cochrane. He was the beloved husband of Aurelia (Ford) Cochrane who survives. He is predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Mary Virginia Caldwell formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC. He is survived by a sister E.M. Penny Ford and a brother-in-law M. Rich Ford of Fort Myers Fl., and six children: Timothy and Jennifer (Zara) of Davidson NC, Bethann and her husband David Gunn of Hyde Park NY, Carol and her husband Terry Rice of Apex, NC, Michael and Julie (Housewright), Melbourne, FL, Samuel of Apex NC, and Harry "Hank" L Jr. of Brooklyn NY. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; Debbie, Casey, Rachel, David (Gabby), Sarah, Melissa, Lauren, Robin, Samuel, and Olivia, and four great grandchildren, Gavyn L. Gunn, Marie, Emily and Julia Anne. The Cochrane family lived in Clearfield Pa until moving to St. Marys PA in 1947. He graduated from St. Marys Public High School in 1954. He matriculated at Gannon University in Erie, PA. In his junior year, he left college to join the Army, and was assigned to the Army Language School of Presidio Monterey CA. From there, he was sent to the National Security Agency in Fort Mead, MD. Following active duty, he returned to college and spent a semester at Penn State. In 1961 he married the love of his life, Aurelia, and returned to Gannon University where he graduated in 1962. He began his career as an accountant at the University of Pittsburgh. Shortly afterward, he took a job as an auditor/controller with Montgomery Ward which relocated him to Poughkeepsie, NY. In 1982, he became General Manager of a struggling office supply and business technology company. He divested the office supplies and typewriter portions of the business to focus on new developments in business technology. In a few short years, he transformed the company into a successful and profitable business that was eventually sold to a much larger dealer in 1997. He was a 30 year member of the Red Oaks Mill Vol. Fire Dept. where he presided as the treasurer and financial secretary. He was a man with eclectic hobbies. But mostly he loved to read, especially history, philosophy and business, as well as the classics and biographies about world leaders of the past. In retirement he became a devoted fan of Britney Traces local soccer team (of Apex, NC). On any given he could be found cheering on the Britney United Team with a cold brew in hand. retiring, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, golfing and spending time with family. Most notably, he looked forward to an annual family reunion his hometown of St. Marys PA (affectionately known as Fri-De-Fo). A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am on 16 at St. Andrews Church in Apex, NC, with family to receive friends one hour prior to the service. Obituary: Belmont- Cathy Hoffman Cochrane, 60, passed away suddenly 24, 2015. She was born in Gaston , NC on 12, 1954 She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Faye Carver Stone and her husband Joe Cochrane. Cathy was the most giving and caring person we knew; she was loved by all. She was a loving mother to anyone who needed one. Cathy worked for Auto Zone as Regional Manager for 20 years. For the past 10 years, she worked with her sister Kim as owner and operator for Two Sisters Cleaning Service. She was an avid sports fan; she loved NASCAR. Survivors include sons Chad Simpson of Gastonia, Todd Simpson and wife Julia of Seattle, WA; ; her boyfriend Gary Beal; her father Don Hoffman, and step-father Kenneth Stone; Sisters, Kim Horne and husband Mike; Donna Beckford and husband Wayne; Samatha High, Darla Ball and husband Shane, Cherry Elmore, Kelly Pritchard and husband Brad; Brothers, Bart Stone and wife Bonnie, Kevin Stone, John Stone, Kent Stone, Jason Stone and wife Susan, Adam Stone, Clay Stone and wife Ersie, Josh Stone and Samuel Stone; and her beloved dogs Mr. Max and Romeo. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 28th at 7:00 pm at Chapel Grove Church of God, 4639 Chapel Grove School Road, Gastonia, NC 28052 with Reverend Frankie Sneed officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Obituary: Charlotte, NC-William Lafayette Bill Cochran, 95, of Charlotte passed away morning, 14, 2014 at CMC-University Hospital. Bill was born 13, 1919 in Newell, NC, a son of the late Samuel and Agnes Stafford Cochran. A veteran of WWII, Bill obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant with the US Army. He was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson, NC, a member of the American Legion, an avid Atlanta Braves fan, enjoyed gardening and carpentry work. A carpet and drapery installer, Bill retired form Mecklenburg Furniture Shops after 40 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Jo Cochran in of 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Reynolds of Kannapolis, NC, two sons, David Cochran and Steve Cochran and his wife, Susie all of Charlotte, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and special friend, Pat Ross. Also preceding him death were his siblings, Lucille Harris, Lloyd Cochran, Samuel SE Cochran, James Cochran and Junius Cochran. The family would like to thank the staff at Saturn Rehab and Facility and all the home caregivers. services are planned for 1:00 pm , 18, 2014 at McEwen Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC with Sammy Pierce officiating.
