Obituary: Lt. Col. Clayton, age 77, of Charlotte, died , 21, 2015 at his home. Born 16, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN, he was a son of the late Arthur Andrew Clayton and Dorothy Alice Mechlenborg Clayton. Col. Clayton retired from the US Air Force after 30 years of honorable service, having lived all over the United States, Germany and Thailand. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 AM , 27th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Winslow, Celebrant. Graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM in Salisbury National . The family will receive friends 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McEwen Service - Derita Chapel. Survivors include two daughters, Jessica E. Seymour and husband, Stephen of Pickerington, OH and Dorice L. Ijams and husband, Richard of Twinsburg, OH; a grandson, Derik Seymour of Columbus, OH; step granddaughter, Jennifer Payne of Columbus; a brother, John Clayton; four sisters, Elaine Kuhn and husband, Donald, Dorothy Williams and husband, Robert, Doris Trick and husband, Donald and Clara Pachin and husband, Steven; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Feldmann Clayton, in 1993. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Geneva, to Girl Scouts of America (hngirlscouts.org), 7007 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. by McEwen Service - Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28262 (704-596-3291).
