On 6, 1940, she married William Ernest Dub Chilton, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her sisters Bessie Hart and Doris Denning; and brother Charles Edwards. Obituary: Larry Wayne Chilton, 72, passed away on , 13, 2017 at Forsyth Medical in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on 11, 1945 in Winston-Salem to the late James Edgar Chilton and Sadie Caudle Chilton. Larry was a graduate of Hanes High School and attended East Carolina University. He served in the United States Army as a member of the White House Honor Guard. Larry then went on to work as a coastal management planner for North Carolina. Work and family then took him west, where he became the director of Land Management and Development for the City of Salisbury. There he found a home and a true calling, and he remained in public service for 22 years. Under his leadership the City received national recognition for its exemplary city planning and community development achievements. Larry was a beloved father, friend and mentor, and with his thoughtfulness, his warmth and his wry humor, he touched the lives of everyone he met. He was an avid reader and book collector, a committed public servant, and a devoted UNC basketball fan. In addition to his father, mother, two brothers and two sisters, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne Lyman Chilton. Larry Chilton is survived by his daughters, Celeste Chilton of Charlottesville, VA, and Sarah Chilton of Charleston, SC. Service: 12 p.m. on , 18 at Frank Vogler & Sons in Winston-Salem. Eric Chilton, nephew of Larry Chilton, will offer the eulogy. the service, interment is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park.
