Obituary: Mark Haywood Charles, also affectionately known as Hammer to his friends, passed away on , 30 at Wesley Long Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on , Feb. 4 at Hanes-Lineberry N. Elm Street Chapel. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. at the Charles residence, 4402 Natural Lake Court, Greensboro. Mark was born on May 11, 1956 in Greensboro to the late Foil and Ruth Charles. He is survived by his wife Anita, brother Roger, Aunt Lillian Beaver and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition he leaves behind his two sweet canine companions, Isabella and Jazmine. Mark was a graduate of Grimsley High School and earned a BA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. For most of his career Mark worked in the Advertising Specialties industry. In 2005 he opened his own company, FVC Specialties, which was named after his father, Foil V. Charles. Mark loved all sports and as a graduate of UNC he was a big supporter of the Tarheels. He loved to travel and his favorite destinations were Las Vegas and the mountains. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made the Guilford Animal Shelter. Checks should be made payable to the United Animal Coalition. Please include Marks name and address with the check. Contributions may also be made to High Point University for the Foil V. and Ruth Charles Endowed Scholarship. . |
