Obituary: EASTON, Mass. – Rev. Richard J. Segreve, C.S.C., 82, died at the Holy Cross Residence at Stonehill in North Easton, Mass., on , . 22, 2017. He was born on May 5, 1934 in Boston, Mass., to Harold and Mildred (Minnihan) Segreve. By chance, he attended a Holy Cross parish retreat and saw four Holy Cross Fathers dressed in a black cassock, cape, cord and crucifix. An inquiry was made, and before long, he went to Holy Cross Seminary at Stonehill in 1952. Fr. Segreve was received into the Congregation of Holy Cross on 15, 1954, professed his First Vows on 16, 1955, and made his final profession on 16, 1958. He was ordained to the priesthood on 1, 1961. In 1961, most of his class was assigned to Notre Dame Boys High School in Bridgeport, CT. During his nine years there, he taught Biology, Religion and French; became a guidance counselor; then became director of guidance; and, for a while, principal of the school. From 1970 to 1973, he served as Assistant Provincial in the Eastern Province of Priests and Brothers. In 1973, he became director of counseling at Stonehill , North Easton, MA, as well as director of campus ministry there. In 1990, he entered parish work at Holy Cross Parish, South Easton, MA, and in 1991, he continued to assist in parishes, serve in family ministry, and reside in the Holy Cross Residence at Stonehill . Preceding him in death are his parents, Harold and Mildred Segreve; two sisters, Patricia Kelly and Carol Segreve; and two brothers, Harold Segreve and Ralph Segreve. He is survived by sisters, Ellen Davis, Canton, MA; Beverley Faulkner, Rosindale, MA; Barbara Woodford, Stoughton, MA; and brother, Paul Segreve, Bridgewater, MA. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Apr. 27, 2017) at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill , Easton, MA with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. The Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. (Apr. 28, 2017) at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill , Easton, MA. Obituary: NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Rev. J. Robert Rioux, C.S.C., 92, died at Holy Cross House, Notre Dame, Ind. on , Sept. 2, 2016. He was born on 19, 1924, to John (Jean) Philias and Elmire Jean (Joly) Rioux in New Bedford, Mass. He received the Sacraments and attended grammar school at St. Joseph Parish in New Bedford. graduating from New Bedford Vocational School, he entered the United States Navy and served for three years during World War II. He participated in the V-12 Program in the Navy, and he received a World War II Medal of Victory. He was received into the Congregation of Holy Cross in , 1947, professed his first vows on 16, 1950, and made his final profession on 16, 1953. He earned a Bachelors degree from Notre Dame in 1952, a Masters from Holy Cross , Washington, D.C. in 1955, and was ordained to the priesthood on 8, 1956. Fr. Rioux served as an instructor at Fr. Baker High School in Lackawanna, NY in 1956. He was then sent to serve in the parish in Bennington, VT and to teach at the local Catholic high school. Someone with Fr. Riouxs background was then needed at Kings , where he served for a year before going to Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT. He spent four years there with a one-year interval in order to complete an MA Degree in French and Spanish from Fordham. In 1965, he moved from Notre Dame High School to Albany and joined the staff of Father Peytons Family Rosary Crusade. He stayed with Fr. Pat for a total of 13 years in two different time frames. He also got involved in fund raising for the crusades. Vatican II, stayed in Madrid for the year long program, and in time got involved in the crusades in Milwaukee then Panama and Guayaquil, Ecuador. Once he returned to Albany, he became the Director of Development and oversaw the funding activities of the office there. In 1972, Fr. Rioux accepted a position as Fund Raising Consultant in Maryland, where clients were priests and nuns fund raising for their religious communities. a couple of years, the University of Notre Dame extended an invitation to Fr. Rioux to interview for a staff position in the Notre Dame Development Office. He became the Director of the Annual Fund and was successful at it. While at Notre Dame, Fr. Rioux created the Subway Alumni Association and co-founded the Sorin Society. Fr. Rioux remained in this position for three years, before accepting a position as Director of Planned Giving at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. While there, he lived in the local parish and made many friends among the faculty. In his fifth year in Macomb, Fr. Rioux was persuaded to return to the Family Rosary Crusade, this time for seven years. In 1988, Fr. Rioux enrolled in a renewal program in Oakland, Calif. at the School of Applied Theology. In time, the director of the school learned of his background and approached him about helping out. He raised funds while attending as a student and at the end of the year, he became their new Director of Development for the next six years, when his Provincial in the East asked him to return to North Dartmouth to assist in 1994. In 2001, Fr. Rioux became Superior and became an elder when the term ended. Fr. Rioux moved to Holy Cross House in 2012. Preceding him in death are his parents, John and Elmire Rioux; brothers, Armand Joseph Rioux, Roland (Rock) Rioux, and Arthur P. Rioux; sisters, Lillian (Rioux) McCarthy, Ina (Rioux) Bissonnette LaFrance, Annette Jeanne (Rioux) Leger, and Marie Claire Rioux, who entered the convent and assumed the name Sr. Jeanne DeChantal, SSJ. He is survived by a sister-in-law Jeannette (Fenette) Rioux of New Bedford, Mass., as well as several nephews and nieces. Visitation at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill , Easton, MA, will take place (Sept. 8, 2016) from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7:30 p.m. The Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. (Sept. 9, 2016) at the Chapel of Mary, Stonehill , Easton, MA. He was born on 30, 1934, to William and Helen (Murphy) Condon in Boston, Mass. He was received into the Congregation of Holy Cross on Aug. 15, 1954. Fr. Condon professed his First Vows on Aug. 16, 1955. He earned a bachelors degree from Stonehill in 1952, a masters from Holy Cross , Washington, D.C., in 1961, and was ordained to the priesthood on 1, 1961. Fr. Condon served as Tiroc Pastorale at Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT from 1961 to 1962 and then as instructor at the same from 1962 to 1965, while also completing a masters degree in political science at Catholic University in 1965. From 1965 to 1969, Fr. Condon served as an instructor at St. Peter H.S., Gloucester, MA, and also served on the Provincial Council from 1966 to 1969. From 1969 to 1970, Fr. Condon was Assistant Dean at Kings in Wilkes-Barre, PA. In 1970 he was principal of Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT, until 1973. From the fall of 1974 to 1984, Fr. Condon served as a military chaplain, while also obtaining a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Humanistic Studies in San Diego, CA, in 1984. From 1984 to the spring of 1985, Fr. Condon served at St. Mary Parish in Tampa, FL, before again serving as a chaplain in the military, U.S. Navy branch, from the summer of 1985 to the summer of 1990, after which he served as VP of Student Affairs at Kings . In 1995, Fr. Condon shifted from the east to west coast, serving as National Director of Family Theater in Hollywood, CA, until 1996, when he returned back east to head up the renewal program at St. Luke Institute in Silver Springs, MD. In 1997, he returned to Connecticut, this time as a psychotherapist in Brooklyn, CT, for their prison release program. In late 1997, Fr. Condon became chaplain at Rose Hawthorne , where he remained until 2002. From late 2002 to 2004, he assisted at St. Joseph Hall, North Dartmouth, MA, then served as chaplain at Nativity Prep School in New Bedford, MA until 2006. From 2006 to 2010, Fr. Condon was assistant superior in North Dartmouth and also an auxiliary priest in the Fall River Diocese from 2003 to 2016. Preceding him in death are his parents, William and Helen Condon. Surviving are brothers James Condon of West Springfield and Richard Condon and his wife Linda of Viera, FL. and Onset, MA.

Obituary: NORTH EASTON, Mass. – The Rev. Robert J. Kruse, C.S.C., of the Congregation of Holy Cross, died on , 29, 2015, at Stonehill in North Easton, Massachusetts. Fr. Kruse was a religious studies scholar and a Counselor to the President of Stonehill in Easton, Massachusetts. He was 83 (born 15, 1932). completing doctoral studies in theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Fr. Kruse joined the Religious Studies Department at Stonehill in 1961 and went on to Chair the department. In 1978, he became the s Academic Dean, a position he held until 1987 when he was appointed Executive Vice President, a position he held until 2001. Fr. Kruse was a specialist in 19th and 20th century religious thought. A thoughtful, spiritual man, he loved to read, garden and walk. Fr. Kruse devoted his life to the service of Stonehill and played an instrumental role in its growth as a Catholic liberal arts college. During its Golden Anniversary in 1998-99, the presented Fr. Kruse with its Moreau Medallion in recognition of his critical role in Stonehills first 50 years. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Fr. Kruse grew up in Indiana, Missouri, and New York, and came to Stonehill as a young seminarian in the early 1950s when the was still in its infancy. A philosophy major, he graduated from Stonehill in 1955. Fr. Kruse was first received by the Congregation of Holy Cross on 15, 1950, made his First Profession of Vows on 16, 1951, made his Final Vows on 16, 1954 and was Ordained a priest on 30, 1958. Preceding him in death are his parents, Robert James Kruse and Dorothy (Oliger) Kruse. Father Kruse is survived by his brother Keith of Mansfield, Massachusetts and by three nieces, Kathy Murray of Billerica, Massachusetts, Valerie Scott of Blandon, Pennsylvania, Roberta Kruse of Warwick, New York and a nephew, Casey Kruse of Ardsley, New York. He is also survived by his adopted family Thon Chen and his wife Sophak Pek, of Lynn, Massachusetts. The Wake Service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on (Jan. 5, 2016) in the Chapel of Mary at Stonehill . A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. (Jan. 6, 2016) at the Chapel of Mary at Stonehill. Burial will be in the Holy Cross on the campus. Kane , Easton, is in charge of the arrangements.
