Obituary: Lewiston- Benjamin Ben R. Cooper 31 of Auburn died unexpectedly 27, 2015. He was born in Lewiston on 23, 1983 a son of Steven and Lillian (Gray) Cooper. He graduated from Hinckley High School in Aurora, CO in 2002 and later graduated from Central Maine Community in 2012. Ben enjoyed to work and was working in construction for Maine Works out of Falmouth. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Auburn. He loved photography and took pictures for many weddings. He also enjoyed landscaping and the color orange. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. But most of all he loved being with his family especially his two children and treasured the times they went fishing. He leaves his soul mate and best friend, Nina Sirois and their two children, Gabriella Cooper and Caleb Duff of auburn, his parents Steven and Lillian Cooper of Auburn, two sisters Rebekah Joner and husband Michael of MA, and Hannah Winberg and husband Cameron of WY, paternal grandmother Virginia Cooper of Minot, nieces and nephews: Mikey, Emmett, Taya, and Ryder, and many aunts uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather Herbert Cooper and his maternal grandparents Alma and Elva Gray. Obituary: Arthur E. Cooper Arthur E. Cooper passed away on 15, 2015. He was born on 11, 1917 in Southington, Connecticut, the son of Arthur H. and Clara (Rockemer) Cooper. He graduated in 1935 from Weaver High School in Hartford, Connecticut, and in 1939 earned his degree from Farmington (Maine) State Teachers . His first year of teaching in 1939-1940 was interrupted when he was drafted into the armed services of the United States. He served in the Army Air Corps in the European theater during World War II, and he was shot down while serving as bombardier and navigator on a B-17 Flying Fortress in of 1943. He was a POW from then until liberated from a prison camp in Moosburg, Germany in 1945. the war he had a distinguished career as an insurance agent for the Springfield, and later the Saint Paul Insurance Companies. He was named field agent of the year for all of New England in 1977. On 22, 1946 he married the love of his life, Nora (Gerry) Cooper to whom he was married for 56 years. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Cooper) Costello and her husband Jack, of Wellesley, Massachusetts, his son, the Rt. Rev. Mark Cooper, O.S.B. of Saint Anselm Abbey in Manchester, New Hampshire, his son-in law, Steven Campbell of Portland, Maine, his grandsons, John Costello and wife Julie (DeBaggis) Costello, and James Costello, and his great-grandson Sean Costello, all of South Boston. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, the Most Rev. Joseph Gerry, O.S.B., of Saint Anselm Abbey, Manchester, New Hampshire, and Arnold Hopkins of Millinocket, Maine, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, his daughter Janet (Cooper) Campbell, and his beloved grandson Cooper Campbell. the death of his wife and well into his mid-nineties he served as an assistant and host at the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maine, where he was much loved and cared for by the owners and staff. All visitors who met him loved him for his sense of humor and his kind thoughtfulness. A hard-working and good man, of gentle disposition, he possessed tremendous integrity along with great love for and devotion to his family and many friends. He was a devoted and faithful member of St. Judes Catholic Church and its community in Freeport, Maine, the community in which he resided and to which he greatly contributed for 62 of his 98 well-lived years. Obituary: Mr. Joseph F. Cooney, Jr., 82, of Norway, ME, formerly of Salem, beloved husband of Linda (Dunn) Cooney, died suddenly , 7, 2016 at his home. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Joseph F. Cooney Sr., and Edith (Gulliver) Cooney. He was raised and educated in Schenectady, New York. Mr. Cooney continued his education receiving his Electricians License from Coyne Electrical School in Boston. He received his Associates Degree from North Shore Community and his Bachelors Degree in Law Enforcement from Northeastern University. An honorably discharged veteran, Mr. Cooney proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War and as a member of the National Guard Reserves for 20 years. Mr. Cooney had been employed as an Electrician for LFE Laboratories in Waltham for 15 years. Joe joined the Salem Police Department in 1968, as a Reserve Officer and became a dedicated, a full time, Officer in 1972, until the time of his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement he and Linda moved to Maine. Always proud of being a veteran he dedicated many hours to several organizations including the Western Maine Veterans Advisory Committee, which he was Chairman for 15 years. He was Post Commander at the American Legion for 2 years and was Commander of the South Paris Maine, Veteran of Foreign Wars for 4 years. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe was eternally grateful for his family and was truly proud of them and their many accomplishments. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. In addition to his wife Linda, Joe is survived by his three sons, Michael Cooney of West Newbury, Joseph Cooney III and his wife Michelle of Topsfield, and Richard Cooney and his wife Robin of Woburn, his daughter, Susan Szpak and her husband Stephen of Salem, and his two step-daughters, Lori Brown and her husband David of Norway, ME and Jaime Goodwin and her husband Seth McLain of Los Angeles, his sixteen grandchildren and his great-grandchild. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the ODonnell , 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem on 12, 2016 at 9:15 A.M., followed by a Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd., at 10:00 A.M.
