Obituary: Robert L. Catell, 88 Yarmouth - Robert L. Catell, 88, of Yarmouth died , 19, 2013 in Falmouth. Bob was born in Bangor 9, 1924 to Charles V. and Frances Blake (Leonard) Catell. Bob graduated from Bangor High School and attended the University of Maine in Orono. the war broke out, Bob tried to enlist but was initially declared 4F and moved to New York City, where his father lived, getting a job as an electrical contractor. having a freak accident in which an electrical shock caused him to be thrown 25 feet across a room, Bob learned that that the arrhythmia that had initially kept him out of the military was cured. He returned to Maine, enrolled at Maine Maritime Academy, graduated and served the rest of the war in the Merchant Marine. Bob credited his experience at MMA with providing the foundation for his success in life. On 18, 1945, Bob married his junior high school sweetheart, Cynthia Rich, and for 63 years this couple enjoyed a wonderful life filled with love, lasting friendships, job satisfaction and community involvement. Bob began his career at New England Telephone climbing poles and splicing cables. As a result of his self-disciple and dedication to exemplary work Bob was promoted every year and half ending up as a lobbyist for AT&T working primarily at the state house in a. Bobs ability to listen, his easy way of communicating and respectful manner allowed him to present information in a logical way, providing insights and leading to rational decisions. His leadership was clearly demonstrated, when in the 1950s, he promoted 15 women to management positions. Bob was President of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, a Director of the New England Council for Economic Development, a Mason, a Lion, and a Rotarian. He also enjoyed regularly serving chowder at the South Freeport Congregational Church. Bob was a man possessed with a natural curiosity of life and an openness and acceptance of all people. He was known to always do what was right. He was both a mans man and a womans gentleman. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, doing fine woodworking and boating. His daughter and grandchildren have very fond memories of weekend breakfasts where an always cheerful Bob would serve up eggs, bacon, sausage and just about any variety of pancakes. As Alzheimers began to take its toll on this remarkable man he was able to hang on to his great smile to the end - the kind of smile that spoke of loving acceptance and was a reflection of his soul. As conventional words began to escape him - he took on the words and gestures of the poets in describing life around him. He will be so greatly missed. Bob is survived by his daughter Anne Catell and her husband George Samuels of Portsmouth, NH; his four grandchildren: Benjamin Pecora, Ki Pecora, Robert Pecora, and Adrienne Catell; and his brother Stanley Catell and his wife Elsie and their children Brian, Jimmy, Scott and Mark Catell. He was predeceased by his wife Cynthia who died 17, 2010. There will be a time of gathering and celebration of Bobs life with family and friends on 21, 2013 from 12 noon to 3 PM at Portland Country Club, 11 Foreside Road, Falmouth. Obituary: William F. Caswell, Jr. 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Casco on Sept. 8. He was the husband of Donna Lee (Brule) Caswell. shared just 3 days shy of 50 loving years together. Born in Gray, Me. 19, 1946, he was the fourth born of eight children to William and Barbara Carr Caswell He graduated from Scarborough High School in 1965 and immediately joined the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War as a jet engine specialist. Bill came back to Maine after traveling the globe and worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He transitioned into a job at the Crooked River Elementary School and was respected and loved by all. Bill went on to the U.S. Post Office where he was employed for over 23 years. During this time he achieved his associate degree from Westbrook . Bill was a member of ALPCA and American Legion Post #112. His hobbies included painting landscape, making stained glass and building bird houses. He never held on to or sold his wares but gave them away freely to anyone that would make them happy. He was also an avid collector of license plates to baseball cards to stamps and coins. He was also a music aficionado. He loved all genres and especially loved sharing his love of music with others. In his leisure time Bill was always intrigued by the unknown and paranormal. Bill made everyone that entered his home feel special. He was a master story teller to anyone and everyone that would pull up a seat. He captivated his grandkids for hours. He leaves behind the love of his life Donna, daughter Connie Hodgdon-Rand and husband Dennis of Casco, son William R. Caswell of Douglasville, Georgia, grandchildren Alyssa, Ryan, William and step grandchildren Travis and Nathan. He is also survived by brother Peter Caswell and his wife Julie of Casco, sisters JoAnne Griffin of Saco and Susan Foss of Scarborough and special friends, Ricky and Laura Poland. A memorial service and celebration of Bills life will be held Sept. 14 at 1:30 PM from the Jones, Rich & Hutchins , 199 Woodford St., Portland. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made towards his grandchildrens future education in care of Connie Hodgdon 73 Tenney Hill Rd ,Casco Me. 04015. Obituary: WEST OLD TOWN - Corinne Ella Caswell, 86, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family 1, 2015. She was born in Milford, 26, 1928, the daughter of Nelson and Philomene (Trembley) LaBree. She enjoyed summers at her camp on Pushaw Lake. She worked for many years, retiring at the age of 62. In retirement, Corinne and Simon enjoyed traveling and their winter home in Florida. She enjoyed her many hobbies, Bingo, playing cards, cooking, puzzles, knitting, gardening, and going strawberry and apple picking. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Simon Caswell; children Carol Qualey and her husband Walter of Corinth, Gary Caswell of Havelock, NC, Bruce Caswell and his wife Carleen of West Old Town, and Susan Caswell of West Old Town; four grandchildren Kirk, Rebecca, Jodi, and Michelle; seven great grandchildren; brother Robert LaBree; two sisters Marie O'Keefe and Theresa Pollard; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Ronald Caswell, two brothers Francis and Walter LaBree; two sisters Rose Walinchus and Margaret Salisbury. The family wishes to thank all those involved with her care during her courageous battle with cancer. Per her request there will be no formal funeral services but rather a Celebration of her Life will be held at her home in West Old Town, Kirkland Road, on 11, 2015 from 1-4pm.
