Daigle, Johnathon Daigle, Timothy Daigle, and Joshua Edwards. Houston is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlotte Croom Colbert; two sons, Houston Allen Colbert and Charles Brent (Bo) Colbert and his wife Ramona; three daughters, Kimberly Colbert Hooter and her husband Ed, Tanna Colbert Daigle and her husband Anthony, and Monic Colbert McChristian and her husband Jason; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Obituary: Timothy Joseph Cola, Sr., a resident and native of New Orleans, LA passed away on 6, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales, LA. He was 64 years old. "Big Tim", as he was affectionately known, graduated from Cohen High School and later joined the United States Navy. his years of service to his country, he was employed with Tenneco Oil Refinery, and worked the duration of his career as a self employed General Contractor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Cola Sr. and Clara Septh Cola and his brother, Alfred Cola Jr. He is survived by his five children, Timothy (Danielle) Cola, Jr.; Timantha (Clovis Ray) Williams, Timisha Brooks, Ivy (Randell) Wilson and Jabari Brooks; one sister, Faith Cola; 8 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins and cherished friends. Obituary: Charles Anthony Cola passed away on , 8, 2015, at the age of 69.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Quintella Boult Cola; children Michael W. Cola (Melissa) of Sugarland, TX, and Christopher W. Cola of Houston, TX; grandchildren Jaelin, Spenser, Megan, John, and Gianna Cola; siblings Gloria C. Moore of Summerville, NJ, Mary C. Leon of Convent, LA, Joseph Cola, of Lutcher, LA, Lionel Cola of Vacherie, LA, Wilfred Cola of Paulina, LA, Andrew Cola of Gramercy, LA, Deola C. Branch of Prairieville, LA, Myra C. Terry of New Orleans, LA, and Linda C. Watson of La Place, LA; brother-in-law Irvin Boult Jr. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents John and Alberta Stevens Cola; grandson Matthew C. Cola; siblings Lena C. Johnson, Joyce C. Lee, and Yvonne C. Phillips.

Charles was an usher and parishioner of St. Ann Church and Shrine and will be remembered for his devotion to God and the Catholic Church. He served in the US Army in Germany as a Master Sergeant. Charles graduated from Cypress Grove High School in Lutcher, LA and attended Nichols State University. He retired from Shell/ MOTIVA Norco refining after 37 years. He was the first African American promoted to a management position at Shell. Charles was on the Board of Directors of Boys Hope Girls Hope and was a past member of several committees at Jesuit High School.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass in the Chapel for the North American Martyrs (Jesuit High School), 4133 Banks St. on , 12, 2015 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie . Visitation will begin at 9:30am until service time.

Obituary: SHREVEPORT, LA - Ted B. Barefield, Lt.Col. U.S.A.F. Retired, age 94, of Shreveport passed 2nd to be with our Lord. services with be held 7th at 10 am at Hillcrest Memorial in Haughton, with Visitation at 5 pm Aug. 6th. Graveside services directly following the funeral.
Mr. Barefield was born 9, 1920 in Meridian, MS. He attended Gulf Coast Military Academy in Gulfport, MS where he graduated in 1938. graduation he and family moved to Washington, D.C., to attend George Washington University. While there, he was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army but worked as a clerk typist at the U.S. Navy Yard. At the beginning of WWII, he was activated into Army Air Corps and received his primary flight training in Lake Charles at Chenault Field. He then was transferred to San Antonio for advanced flight training and later became a flight instructor at Randolph Field. There he taught advanced flight training in the T-6 Texan, and later into the B-25 Mitchell and later the B-24 Liberator. Toward the end of the war he was transferred to Fort Worth to Carswell Air Field as an evaluation pilot for the Consolidated-Vultee B-32 Dominator. With WWII now over, this took him to fly with a research group based at the Dover Delaware Proving Grounds as well as China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station and Ordinance Testing Grounds, near what is now Edwards Air Force Base. Here he flew a highly modified B-26 that was used as an aerial photography platform. It was used to photograph the evaluation of acquired German Air to Ground Missiles. While in the research group he transitioned into his first jet, the P-80 Shooting Star, to operate as the chase plane in the research group. While at China Lake he befriended flying icon Bob Hoover, who was assigned from Wright Patterson for jet aircraft evaluation.
With the Korean War beginning, he reinstated into the United States Air Force as a flight officer. New pilots were needed and he was assigned as a Wing Commander for primary flight training facility in Kinston, NC. While in Kinston he met the love of his life, Bonnie, who was a receptionist to the field commander. Upon completion of the war he began work in 1958 as an inspector for the newly formed Federal Aviation Agency, now Administration, in New Orleans. Transferring to Shreveport, then Fort Worth for 4 years, then back to Shreveport. Here he assumed the position as the Chief Supervising Inspector for the Shreveport GADO Office until his retirement with over 12,000 flying hours.
Mr. Barefield was preceded in death by his parents, Ted K. Barefield of Meridian, MS, and his mother Wessie Tillie Taylor Barry of Bryceland, LA. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Bonnie Stephens Barefield, of Mt Stering, IL, as well as his loving son Barry Barefield. Also preceded in death were his step-parents Harvey C. Moore of Skyler, NE, and Stella Miller Barefield of Meridian, MS. As well preceding in death, was the special loving cousin Nannie-Mayes Crump of Washington, DC, who raised him on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, of which he loved for sailing and fishing.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Shreveport Hanger of the QBs, ye Anciente and Secret Order of Quiet Birdmen, a fraternity of professional aviators.

Obituary: Dr. Tomas Birriel-Carmona, age 86, died 4, 2015 at Teche Regional Medical in Morgan City, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia I. Birriel; his daughter, Dr. Ivette Birriel-Salcedo; his grandson, Javier Birriel-Cruz; his parents, Tomas Birriel-Jimenez and Margot Carmona de Birriel; and his sister, Socorro Birriel de Moreira. He is survived by his children, Dr. Margarita Birriel-Salcedo, Dr. Tomas Birriel-Salcedo and his wife Dr. Jane Birriel, Dr. Javier Birriel-Salcedo, and Johanna Birriel-Salcedo; his grandchildren, Rafael Egea-Birriel, Tomas and his wife Michelle Birriel, Rafael and his wife Jennifer Birriel, Noel Birriel, Dr. T. Javier Birriel and his wife Dr. Lillybeth A. Birriel, and Lola Birriel; his great grandchildren, Leyla, Cecilia, and Julian Birriel;
his siblings, Rafael L. Birriel-Carmona, Pilar Birriel-Carmona, Margarita Birriel-Carmona, and Carmen D. Birriel-Carmona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. attending Medical School in Madrid, Spain, he was a physician in Puerto Rico for a number of years before joining the US Army. Dr. Birriel-Carmona earned multiple awards and commendations during his career in the US Army, to include the Combat Medical Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Bronze Star. He was the FORSCOM Surgeon, the MEDDAC Commander in the Canal Zone and a combat veteran of the Vietnam War where he gallantly served as the Regimental Surgeon in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, better known as the Legendary Blackhorse Regiment. Private services will be held at the National at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. The family requests that Remembrance Donations to be given to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
