Obituary: Services celebrating the life of Virginia Jo Chapman will be held on , 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hill Crest . Pastor Tim Dye of Freedom Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the park. Pallbearers will be Maxie Kitchings, Jr., Mike Seale, Matthew Seale, Michael Connell, Al Bohl and Phil Noyes. Honorary pallbearers are Garrett Kitchings and Bill Chapman. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Golden Ford, Sr. and Ida Mae Miller Ford; her brothers, Clyde Ford and Golden Ford, Jr. and her husband William Vernon Chapman, Sr. She is survived by her children, Bill Chapman and wife Joyce, Cheryl and husband Maxie Kitchings, Jr., Mary and husband Paul Michael Seale; sisters, Margie and husband Joe Anderson, Lela and husband Jim Oliver and sister-in-law, Clarese Ford. Obituary: Vance Oscar Chapman, much loved dad, father-in-law and grandpa, went home to be with the Lord on , 21, 2015 - 27 days after his 96th birthday. Vance was born 25, 1918 in Enterprise, LA, where he grew up, finished school and met the love of his life who became his wife, Verda Gladys Poole. Vance and Verda were married on 15, 1946, right after he returned from serving in World War II on the Pacific front. made their home and raised their three sons and one daughter in Port Sulphur, LA where Vance worked for Freeport Sulphur for 30 years. his retirement in 1978, they moved to Baton Rouge, LA. Vance loved his wife, his kids and grandkids, and most of all his Lord. He served him faithfully in Port Sulphur Baptist Church and in Comite Baptist Church. He loved the Word of God, and when his eyesight failed, he would ask one of his sons or his daughter to read him the Scripture before he went to bed. He came from a musical family and loved to sing. Later in his life, it was a common occurrence to hear Grandpa break out into one of his favorite hymns, and it always brought smiles to those of us who heard him. He was a loving husband to his wife of 57 years. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimers, he cared for her at home as long as he could. He was a good dad to his four children and a sweet grandpa to his 12 grandchildren. His loved ones who preceded him were his parents, Elijah and Nellie Chapman, his sisters Ethelyn Strange and Norma Rae Culkin, his brothers Jimmy Chapman, Joe Chapman, and Donald Chapman. He will be remembered and missed by his sons Dan Chapman and wife Margaret, Ken Chapman and wife Sue, David Chapman and wife Doris, and by his daughter Vicky McMillan and husband Murry. He is also survived by his brothers, Wallace Chapman and wife Gloria and Cedric Chapman and wife Lib, and by his 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
