Obituary: Bettye Gaines Gann Claxton, age 89, left this earthly realm and entered her Heavenly home on 4, 2016. She was born 3, 1926 to Roy H. and Effie Cobb Gaines of Blytheville. A farmers daughter and farmers wife, Bettye lived in Blytheville all of her life. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Bettye was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Pathfinders School class. Bettye married the late John E. Gann in 1945 and they were married for 45 years. Together they grew a successful farming operation, built Fairview Golf Course, and traveled and spent time with family. Later in life, Bettye married the late N.G. Bud Claxton. Both were avid travelers and enjoyed trips in their motor coach and meeting many people throughout their travels. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Herbert Gaines and Elton Ray Gaines; and sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Gaines. Bettye is survived by her son, John Bruce Gann of Blytheville; daughter, Marla Gann Bracey and son-in-law Bill E. Bracey, Jr. of Blytheville; grandchildren; Ashley Jackson and husband Michael of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gann Barrett, Janiece McCormick Barrett of Blytheville, and Kelley Burton and husband Kevin of Searcy, Arkansas; great-grandchildren include Shelby and John Austin Jackson, Oliva Barrett, Jake and Haley McDowell, and Kamryn and Kyle Burton. services will be held , 8th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Robin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood . The family will receive friends evening from 5-7 p.m. at Cobb . Memorials may be made to Blytheville First United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Obituary: Leona E Claussen, 93, passed away on 7, 2015. She was born on 3, 1922 to Jess & Eva Brown in Elk Point, South Dakota. Leona was raised in Sioux City, Iowa and moved to California in 1965. Her hobbies were crocheting, playing cards, and square dancing. She was very involved with The Church of the Nazarene in Bentonville by singing in the choir, helping in the food pantry, and was a prayer partner. Leona is survived by her five children Gerry Roth, Frank, Marlene Lucas, James, Milford Claussen, Rebecca, Dixine Wood, and Craig Claussen, Patricia. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Leona is also survived by one brother, Walt Brown, Rosie, and a sister, Patricia Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Emil Chriss Claussen, one son Douglas Gale Claussen, and one granddaughter Candi Ilene Claussen. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm in Callison-Lough Chapel in Bentonville, officiated by Leonas nephew Scott Brown. The burial will follow at Bentonville . A visitation will be on , 10, 2015 from 5 until 7 pm in the funeral home. |
