Obituary: Lynn Carter, 56 of Huntington peacefully passed away at 5:45 p.m. on , 1, 2014 at her residence. Lynn had taught Physical Education for 32 years in the Huntington Community School System. She also coached several school sports teams at all levels. She was a 1976 graduate of Huntington North High school. A 1980 graduate of Huntington and she received her Masters Degree from Ball State University in 1984. Lynn received the first female Athletic Scholarship from Huntington in 1976. She was inducted into the Huntington North Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. She regularly attended the Pilchers Chapel United Methodist Church in Huntington. Lynn was born on 31, 1958 in Huntington, a daughter of Robert and Nancy (Weinley) Carter. Survivors include her father and stepmother: Robert (Barbara) Carter of Huntington; three sisters: Cheryl (Michael) Emerson of Valparaiso, Jill (Sam) Brown and Amy (Tom) Spahr both of Huntington. Eight nieces and nephews: Brittany Emerson, Matthew Emerson, Trey Sands, Robert Sands, Samantha Brown, Alison Schemmer, Natalie Spahr and Gretchen Pyper. She was preceded in death by her mother Nancy Carter.. Obituary: Nadine Carter, 79, of Columbus, died at 1:55 p.m. , 24, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Born in Davies , 9, 1936, she was the daughter of Samuel Demcy and Alice Russell Crossland. She married Regal L. Carter on 24, 1965, in Flatrock and he preceded her 9, 2005. Nadine had been a waitress, worked in the Canning Factory most of her life and was a homemaker. She attended Jewell Village Separate Baptist Church, enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching Tony Stewart race, and Bobby Knight and IU basketball. The funeral for Nadine will be at 1 p.m. , 29, 2015 in Myers-Reed Chapel with Brother Glenn Poynter officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook . Obituary: Arthur was born 7, 1922 in Houston, Texas. He was the only child of Ida Brooks and Arthur Carter. He was raised by his maternal grandmother, Cora Brooks, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended IPS School #26 and Crispus Attucks High School. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ann Grace Carter in 1942. had five children. He served for the US Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1945 when he was honorably discharged from active duty. During his time in the military, he was an administrative clerk, a pilot mechanic and a Tuskegee Airmen cadet at the Tuskegee Institute. his discharge, he returned back to Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Indiana University where he majored in Accounting. Arthur later worked as a tax accountant for the Internal Revenue Service and the General Accounting Office. He also operated his own accounting practice and a popular travel agency, Twilight Travel Agency. Arthur was active in a multitude of civic and social groups. He was a honored member and leader of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and received the Silver Beaver Award from Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Bachelor Benedict Club and the Indianapolis 500 Oldtimers Club. Among his many honors and distinctions were the Kappa Alpha Psi Laurel Wreath Award, the Sagamore of the Wabash, and the Congressional Gold Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife (Anne Grace Carter) and son (Brooks Carter). He leaves behind four children (Arthur L. Carter II, John Dale Carter, Mary Ann Dickerson and Lennie Carter), two extended children (Nelson Jones and Sherry McCoy)., eight grandchildren (LaTrayl, Keenan, Consuelo, Arthur III, Yuisa, Anne, Alan, and Annelise), host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and friends. As a salute to honor his final requests, there will not be any funeral services and his final resting spot will be beside his wife at Crown Hill in Indianapolis, Indiana. |

Obituary: Mildred F. Carter, 87, of Richmond, died morning, 26, 2014, at Forest Park Campus in Richmond. Mildred was born in Brownsville, May 19, 1927, to Leroy and Vivian Lyons Clevenger. She was a graduate of Brownsville High School and was married 14, 1948 to John C. Carter. Mildred spent 22 years as a military wife while her husband completed his career with the U.S. Army. From 1968 to 1988, she was employed at Brantner Real Estate and Insurance, Richmond and then managed Garwood Apartments in Richmond for the next ten years. Mildred lived in Richmond since 1972. She was a lifetime member of the Brownsville United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1108. Mildred was an avid bingo player and a member of the Zonta Club in Richmond. Mildred is survived by her two daughters and their husbands: Patricia Bollman and James of Williamson, NY; Janice Begoon and John of New Paris, Ohio; two brothers: Donald Clevenger of Liberty, David Clevenger and his wife, Peggy of Connersville; four grandchildren and their spouses: Kris Comer of Union City, Marcy MacQueen and Mike of Grove City, Ohio; Jeremy Bollman and Heather of Reistertown, Maryland; Charlene Wright and Clint of Greenville, Ohio; five great-grandchildren: Carter and Luke MacQueen, Lauren, Rachael and Aaron Wright; many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1979; her sister: Leona May Jones; and three brothers: Harold, Norman and James Clevenger. services will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Showalter Blackwell Long , Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Pastor Shelley Dodson of the Brownsville United Methodist Church, officiating.
