Obituary: William Joshua Crist was born 25, 1927, in Decatur, IL. He passed away at 10:03 p.m., 17, 2014, in his residence in Decatur. A service to celebrate Bills life will be held at 10:00 a.m. , 22, 2014, at Dawson & Wikoff , Mt. Zion. Bill will be laid to rest in Mackville , Atwood, IL with military honors provided by the Macon Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation evening from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.dawson-wikoff.com. Bill, the fourth child of Wavadel Schoonover and Raymond Emory Crist, lost his father in 1930 when Bill was two years old. The family moved to Atwood, Illinois to live with his maternal grandparents, Ella and Joshua Schoonover. Bill graduated from Atwood Township High School in the class of 1946, where he lettered in football, baseball, and basketball. graduating high school, Bill joined the Air Force in 1946, serving as a crew chief for a P-47 airplane while stationed in Guam. He returned to Atwood after three years in the service and married Wanda Scott on 19, 1950. He worked five years at ADM in Decatur before spending the next 37 years in skilled trades at Caterpillar retiring in 1992. He loved playing sports, playing third base on a local baseball team when he was younger. He continued to play sports throughout his life as an accomplished bowler and golfer. He particularly enjoyed golfing with his sons. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Wanda Scott Crist; son: Michael Crist (Connie) and daughter: Lori Queary of Decatur; grandchildren: Shelly Houran of Grapevine, TX, Rebecca Crist of Champaign, IL, Scott Crist of Herrin, IL, Erin (Landon) Jacops of Pampa, TX, Sarah Shrum of Albuquerque, NM, Matthew Shrum of Athens, GA and Benjamin Reeves of Decatur. He leaves nine great-grandchildren: Damien Houran, Sydney Houran, Lyndsey Houran, Tyler Beller, Justin Beller, Morgan Beller, Emma Jacops, Roger Poor, and William Dawson Crist. He leaves one sister: Dorothy Morris of McKenzie, TN. Bill was preceded by his parents; daughter: Jacque L. Shrum and son: Brad Allan Crist; granddaughter: Heather Maria Crist; one sister: Norma Anderson; and two brothers: Raymond and Harold Crist; son-in-law: Mike Queary. The family thanks Dr. Fritz and staff for many years of care, and Dr. Kairouz and staff of Cancer Specialist of Central Illinois. |

Obituary: PEKIN ~ Rose Ann “Peg” Crist, 87, of Pekin, passed away at 11:45 p.m. , 23, 2014 at Rosewood in East Peoria. Born 10, 1927 in Pawnee to Herman and Anna (Lipp) Springer, she married Leroy B. “Bud” Crist on 6, 1946 in Pawnee. He died 22, 2013 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Herman Springer. Surviving are one daughter, Rita (Fred) Figg of Laurel, Florida; two sons, Michael (Ruth) Crist of East Peoria and Brett (Deborah) Crist of Pekin; three grandchildren, Robert Crist of Davenport, Iowa, Danielle Crist of East Peoria, and Lucky Kneasal of Glasford; and one brother, William (Rita) Springer of Pawnee. Bud and Peg owned and operated Cristal Electric in Pekin and later in East Peoria for 30 years, retiring in 1980 when their sons took over the business. She also worked for Tazewell Service for 14 years, retiring in 1980 as a secretary. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and a former member of the Pekin Hospital League. Peg enjoyed traveling, needlework, and spending time with her family. Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. , 5, 2015 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Preston-Hanley s & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Catholic in Pekin.
