Obituary: Jeanette Couri, age 85, of East Peoria, passed away 15, 2015 at 9:39 a.m. at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria. She was born Oct. 15, 1929 in Peoria to Thomas and Marianna (Mrad) Kouri. She married Thomas Couri May 4, 1948 in Peoria. He passed away 10, 2010 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Kouri, and three sisters: Gladys Tony, Margaret LaHood, and Elizabeth Couri. Survivors include two sons: Mike (Vickie) Couri of Washington, Bob (Kathy) Couri of Arvada, CO, eight daughters: Karen (Fred) Clark of Bartonville, Janice (Ray) Martin, and Tricia (Jeff) Lambrich both of East Peoria, Debra (Bill) Spears, Jeannine (George) Jacob, and Beth (Ed) Olehy, all of Peoria, Sue Couri of Springfield, IL, and Cindy (Lester) Behrends of Tiskilwa. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister, Bernadine Anthony and three brothers: Louis (Delores) Kouri, Ed (Shirley) Kouri, and Gene (Cathy) Kouri. Jeanette was a homemaker and longtime hostess at the Lariat Club in Peoria. She was a member of St. Monicas Catholic Church in East Peoria. She was also a member of the St. Monicas Ladies Guild, and the Itoo Society. Jeanette was a mother not only to her family and to her extended family, but to everyone who knew her. She was a kind and loving soul. If you were fortunate enough to sit at her table, you never left hungry. Visitation will be 20, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m., at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton in Peoria. A funeral mass will be 21, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Monicas Catholic Church in East Peoria. There will be an additional visitation one hour prior to the services on at the church. Obituary: Anthony Jamil Couri, age 57, of Peoria, passed away Nov. 3, 2015 at 6:45 a.m. while on a Mediterranean cruise with his wife. He was born 25, 1958 in Peoria to George and Matilda (Kerbage) Couri. He married Agnes “Aggie” Tony, Nov. 28, 1998 in Peoria. She survives along with Jamil’s mother, Matilda Couri of East Peoria; four brothers and two sisters, George (Carole) Couri of Peoria, Janie (George) Hides of Chicago, Denise (Walter) Wiebe of Elmwood Park, IL, Johnny (Kim) Couri of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Denny (Shelley) Couri of Peoria, and Pete (Becky) Couri of Plainfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved, Michelle, George, Madeline, Leo, Nick, Mia, Gabby, Sammy, Jessica (David), Jeremy, Grace, Chad, Stephen, Kelly, and Addison. He was preceded in death by his father in 1991, and one brother-in-law, Steve in 2005. Jamil along with his brother George, owned and operated The Cruise in Peoria since 1990. In 2010 they took over Couri’s License Service from their uncles and ran both businesses from the current East Peoria location. Jamil and his family had a presence in East Peoria for many years with Couri’s Food Town, which was the start of his business career. Jamil was also employed at the North Point Kroger. Jamil was a graduate of Bradley University, a member of St Sharbel Church and its Men’s Club, the Itoo Society Men’s Club and a past youth leader for the St. Sharbel Youth Group. Jamil called bingo at his church and his club and also played Santa for many years. Jamil was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Spalding Council and each year he provided support for the Tri- St. Jude run. Jamil was loved by all, and was a kind and gentle soul who always had a smile. Jamil always took time to talk with whomever he came in contact. He liked to laugh and joke, especially with his nieces and nephews. looked forward to the annual slumber party each summer. Jamil was a wonderful husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend and a devoted son to his mother Matilda. Mass will be at 10:00 am , 16th at St Sharbel Maronite Church in Peoria with ChorBishop Faouzi Elia, Father Bechara Awada and his uncle, Father Paul Kerbage officiating. Burial will follow the service at Resurrection in Peoria. Mercy Meal following at the Lariat Club. Visitation will be , 15th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the St. Sharbel Parish Hall in Peoria with recitation of the Rosary at 2:30 and additional visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Memorials may be made to the Itoo Society Memorial Fund, St. Sharbel Maronite Church, or to the charity of your choice. |
