Obituary: Carol M. Childress, 73, resident of Gurnee, IL. passed away on 15, 2014. She was born on May 9, 1941 in Hoboken, New Jersey to Charles T. and Edna M. Ripke. Carol was an employee of the Lake Recorder of Deeds office for 18 years, was an usher of the theater department in the of Lake and was a former member of the Moose Club. She is survived by her 2 children Cynthia (Marvin) Dahle of Harvard, and Michael Muller (Sue Boehm) of Carol Stream; her life companion Jerome Jackson; former daughter-in-law Katherine Walters of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Randy, Scott, Jeffrey, Kaitlyn and Sarah Dahle and Karoline Muller; two step sons, Richard Childress of England and David (Sue) Childress of Crystal Lake; and a multitude of friends. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Edmund H. Childress. Visitation will be held on , 19, 2014 from 4 to 9pm at Marsh . Burial Private. Flowers also gratefully accepted. Obituary: CREVE COUER - Alice L. Childress, 83, of Creve Couer, formerly of Deer Creek, passed away at 11 a.m. , Oct. 1, 2016, at UnityPoint -Methodist in Peoria. She was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Great Mills, Md., to George and Rose Russell. She married George Childress on 17, 1954, in Great Mills, Md. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2006. She was also preceded in death by one infant son, Stephen and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are one son, Daniel (Tammy) Childress of Creve Couer; one grandson, Steven of Washington; one brother and two sisters. Alice was a part time member of Moose Lodge in Pekin and a member of Deer Creek American Legion Post 1276 and East Peoria American Legion Post 983. She loved country music and dancing. She especially enjoyed listening to Kenny Williams and the Country All Stars Band. Alice was an avid Cub fan. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. , Oct. 5, 2016, at Knapp-Johnson and Cremation in Morton. Visitation will be one hour prior to service on . Burial will be in Mt. Zion in Deer Creek. Obituary: MASON CITY ~ Thelma Lorene Childers, 82, of Mason City, passed away at 6:14 a.m. , 25, 2017 at Mason City Area . Born 28, 1934 in Pekin to Cecil and Ethel (Boyer) McCue, she married Ronald Edward Childers on 21, 1952 in Pekin. He died May 31, 2006 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother and one sister. Surviving are two sons, Mike (Beverly) Childers of Peoria and Dave Childers of Dahinda; two daughters, Kathy (Buddy) Allen and Connie (Jim) Baumann, both of Colorado; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Conover of Pekin and one brother, Delbert (Brenda) McCue of Pekin. Thelma retired from Louis Drefus Corporation in Pekin after many years of service. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Thelma enjoyed fishing, traveling in their motorhome and walking her dog. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Thelma was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Pekin. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. , 29, 2017 at Preston-Hanley s & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Randy Justus will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. evening at the funeral home.
