She was preceded in death by her parents, Haywood and Inez Matthews Thompson; her loving husband of close to 45 years, James Cordell Countess; and a brother, Everett Thompson. Left to cherish her precious memory is her daughter, Karen C. Coleman and her husband Kevin of Huntsville; her son, Jon Countess and his wife Kia of Sumter, SC; 2 grandchildren, Jon Rix Countess and Robert Joel Countess; 2 brothers, y Thompson and his wife Carolyn, Percy Thompson and his wife Ada Sue; 1 sister, Ellamae Elder and her husband Gene, all of Greenville, AL; special caregiver, Gwendolyn Jones; a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous other friends and relatives. Maretta was born and raised in Greenville, AL and enjoyed being active in church and family activities. She also loved to follow Auburn football. She always lifted everyone’s spirits in all situations. She balanced her personality with a strong work ethic. Maretta earned her bachelor’s degree from Samford University and masters from Alabama A&M University. She taught at Ed White Middle School for numerous years and had a positive impact on thousands of lives. She met the love of her life, Jim Countess at First Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL. Maretta was a devout Christian woman who loved her Lord and her church family and was a longtime faithful member of Flint River Baptist Church. S. and Louise Towns Countess; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters. Left to cherish his special memory is his loving wife of close to 45 years, Maretta Thompson Countess; his daughter, Karen C. Obituary: y Lee Counselman, Sr. 75 went to meet his Savior 18, 2014 at his home in Satsuma, AL. y Lee was first and foremost a Christian. We definitely know where he is!!! He loved his Savior, his Bible, his family, his church and his School class. He taught School to the Senior men at First Baptist Church Satsuma. He was a graduate of Vigor High School. He was smart as a whip so said one of his Vigor teachers, Mr. Ed White, who has called checking on him diligently. He worked until his retirement from UOP in Chickasaw, AL. He is survived by his wife of 47 1/2 years, Joyce Hopper Counselman. met at William y in Hattiesburg, MS. (Joyce said he was the cutest thing she had ever seen!) loved to travel and have been in all 50 states and a couple of countries. drove all over the United States. y Lee always doing the driving and he loved it. would go 100 miles out of the way if there was something they wanted to see. He loved being with his sons (Lee & Chris) anytime they were at the house. Just talking with them, or in his earlier years, going fishing or boating with them. He is survived by his two sons, y "Lee" Counselman, Jr. of Saraland, AL and Christopher Len Counselman of Irving, TX. He loved reading and playing with his grandchildren - of which he has 3 (Caylee, Madee & Ayden). He loved working in his workshop. "Making little boards out of big boards" Playing cards and board games with his friends almost every weekend before his illness - was a joy for him. He loved to play golf. He and his friend, RO, won several golf tournaments in their younger years. He is also survived by his brother, William Ellis Counselman of Sacramento, CA and three nephews and one niece. Obituary: Annie Pearl Counselman, 98, of Coffeeville, passed away May 11, 2017 at a family residence in Jackson. She was born 11, 1918 to John and Addie Mauldin. Her many hobbies included cooking, sewing, crocheting and tending her flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was most happy when the house was full with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Coffeeville. Mrs. Coulter was preceded in death by her parents, John Phillip and Elsie Nolan Dick; and her loving husband of 48 years, Vernon Russell Coulter; 2 sisters and their husbands, Rosa Lee (Dean) Smith, and Dollie (Charlie) Callwell; and sister in law, Bonnie Dick. Left to treasure her precious memory is her 2 brothers, Bernard Dick and John Dick and his wife Sherry of IL; 2 sister in laws, Nell Coulter Sadler and Peggy Coulter; and a host of nieces and nephews. “Marge” as most people knew her, was born in Lewistown, IL and worked in electronics at Illinois Bell Telephone for a number of years, before moving to California. She met Russell Coulter and they were married in Ingelwood, CA but soon returned to Alabama. Marge worked at Avex Electronics in Huntsville until her retirement. She loved to cook and sew and especially liked embroidery and needlepoint which she was very good with. She was a faithful member of Owens Cross Roads Baptist Church. Obituary: Fern G. Coulter Jan. 29, 1916 - Aug. 18, 2015 On 18, ninety-nine year old Fern Goshen Coulter entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A retired school teacher and guidance counselor from Ohio, Fern moved to Alabama in her seventies. She was an active member of the Helena United Methodist Church and was the teacher of the Lillie Mae Campbell Bible study, a group that meant the world to her, for fifteen years, retiring when she was 95. While an absolutely beloved teacher in Ohio, she taught English, Latin, biology, home economics, debate and Bible. Her interests included antique postcard collecting, traveling, collecting antiques, supporting favorite Republican political candidates, and reading. She loved family time and was a very successful Euchre game player even into the months before her death. She was an enthusiastic Alabama football fan, enjoying her Nick Saban picture inscribed to her by the coach on her 95th birthday. Most important to her, Fern loved God, loved teaching the Bible, and prayed for many, many friends and family over the years. She turned her life over to Jesus Christ when she was thirteen and continued serving Him enthusiastically and cheerfully for the next eighty-six years. Her love and quiet encouragement made a wonderful difference in the lives of many. Fern was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, George Coulter. She raised three children including Christine Coulter, Peggy Nelson (Bill), and Skip Coulter (Carole). She was the proud grandmother of Nathan Waltz (Sarah), Jonathan Nelson, Connie Petty Porter (Thom), Ben Coulter (Dawn), and Becky Coulter Galloway (Ryan); the great- grandmother of Drew Waltz, Ashlyn Waltz, Shanda Porter, Toby Porter, Katherine Coulter, Abbe Coulter, Lani Carre, Alex Galloway, and Caroline Galloway; and the great- great- grandmother of Max Moses-Porter and Marshal Karstrom- Porter. The celebration of Mrs. Coulter's life will be at 11am on , 21, 2015 at Helena United Methodist Church, with burial following at Helena City . The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on evening at Southern Heritage in Pelham.
