Obituary: services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on , 22, 2010 at Collier-Butler for Jay Copeland, age 69, of Gadsden, who passed away , 19, 2010. Rev. Greg Jones will officiate with burial to follow at Crestwood . Collier-Butler and Cremation Services directing. Mr. Copeland was a retired Police Captain with The Gadsden Police Department. He was a devoted and loving father who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Copeland; mother, Sammie Igou Copeland; son, Clint Copeland; and sister, Nancy Copeland Mulkey. He is survived by his son, Chris (Brenda) Copeland; daughter, Traci (Chris) Reed; grandchildren, Casi (Dexter) Duncan, Clint Copeland, Emily Copeland, Lydia Reed and Audrey Reed; great grandson, Dixon Duncan; sister, Sarah (James O.) Mrs. Copeland passed on , 2, 2017 Grandview in Birmingham. Mrs. Copeland is survived by her husband, James Copeland; daughters, Kathy Copeland Markberry, Charlene Copeland Hill, and Karen Copeland Gallahar; double first nieces, Connie Copeland Stevens, and Carla Copeland Cunningham; Brothers, Charles Starnes, and Paul Starnes; grandchildren, Kasey Bittle, Clinton Gallahar, Weston Hill, and Grant Hill; great-grandchildren, Mason Bittle, Ansleigh Bittle, Ruthie James Bittle, Blakelee Gallahar, and Connor Gallahar; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Copeland was a loving wife, mother, granny, aunt, and friend to so many. She was happily married to James for 58 years. She was a nurse and had a gift for serving and caring for others. She loved to cook and knit and visit. She will be remembered for her wisdom, beautiful smile, servants heart, and continued expressions of love for her family and friends. |

Obituary: Harry Newman Copeland, born 10, 1949, in Gadsden, AL, grew up at Gorgas, Alabama and graduated from Martin High School. Harry Copeland passed away on 13, 2016 at the Baptist Shelby Medical . He attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi social fraternity. He attended Walker before joining the U.S. Navy. leaving the U.S. Navy he took up residence in Birmingham and studied electronics. He and his wife (Diane Mauk Copeland who preceded him in death) worked for IBM for several years in the office automation department. He also attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In recent years he operated a computer inventory management system for U.S. Steel as a contract employee of Tech Providers, Inc. He is survived by his daughter, Cyndie Copeland, and two granddaughters and step-daughter, Sherri Stevens Zobel (David) and granddaughter. Also survived by two brothers, Henry Copeland (Patsy) of Florence and David Copeland (Helen) of Birmingham, a sister Ann Copeland Myers Grantham (Terry) of Andalusia and numerous nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on , 15, 2016 at Elmwood Chapel with a Celebration of Life following at 1:00 P.M. Burial at Oak Hill in Jasper, AL. |
