Obituary: Kenneth Neil Bystrom was born in Ashland, Wisconsin on 3, 1914 to Swedish immigrant parents, Israel and Ingeborg Bystrom. He had four brothers, Joseph, George, Wilhelm, Dale, and three sisters, Edith, Judy and Jeanette. He became a Christian at an early age and felt called to the ministry as a young adult. He attended Northern Baptist Seminary and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, graduating in 1942. While at Moody he also met his bride, Ardis Jane Brown, whom he married in of that same year. Ken also studied at Princeton Seminary in New Jersey and was ordained in 1948 after his first term on the mission field. Ken and Ardis joined Team Mission as missionaries and served in Columbia from 1943 through 1946 and then in Venezuela. In 1952 Ken joined the American Bible Society to head up their office in Caracas. In 1963 he was asked to assume responsibility for a new distribution program for Latin America. This led to significant travel throughout the region and included other countries around the world which could also benefit. Ken has visited 66 countries - some of them only once, others as many as thirty seven times. Kens unconditional love for others, humor, and love of ice cream and mangos endeared him to many around the world. He was a true adventurer. He loved to fly, found other cultures fascinating and always carried a great sense of fun with him wherever he went. He was humble, a deep thinker, well read and had a strong sense of fairness. His character was kind, generous and peaceful. But most importantly he continually strove to emulate his friend and Lord, Jesus Christ. It has been easy for his family to understand the concepts of husband and father through his example. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Ardis, and his daughter, Nancy, his daughter-in-law, Wanda Rowley, and two grandchildren, Tracey Gardner and Tom Bystrom, and one great grandson, Tom Bystrom. He will also be missed by many around the world. But we can all be comforted in the knowledge of Kens new heavenly home and reunion with his son and other loved ones there. We so look forward to seeing him again one day. |

Obituary: Vicki Byrum, age 73, of Boynton Beach, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on 27, 2013 in the care of Palm Beach Hospice in Boynton Beach, FL. She was born on 28, 1940 in Hibbing, MN to Leo and Dorothy Kukkonen and became a permanent resident of Florida in 1968. Vicki is preceded in death by her son, William Marquart; mother, Dorothy Kukkonen; father, Leo Kukkonen; sister, Shirley Walker; and niece, Laura Hoffman. Vicki is survived by her daughters, Teri Barnholtz (Jim) of Boynton Beach, and Michele Calvin of Port St Lucie; brother Jim Kukkonen (Linda) of Thornton, CO; her name sake and aunt Victoria Kailer of MN; five grandchildren, William "BJ" Ledford, Dennis and Brian Barnholtz, Michael Marquart and Katherine Calvin; three great-grandchildren, Christopher and Samantha Ledford and Chase Marquart; three Nephews, Tony, Dana, and Chris Kukkonen and their families; many other family members in MN; and her very dear friend Carl. She was a woman of many hats and talents. She was sharp, strong minded and strong willed all the way to her very last breath. She was smart and tough and could pack a punch with words as many of us know. She was compassionate and committed to service for others. She was a devoted life member of the VFW Post 4360; Past Auxiliary President (three times), Past District 3 President, Department of Florida Membership Chairmen, Chaplain, and Treasurer (thirty years). She was also an active member of the Eagles and American Legion. Her awards during her tenures are too numerous to list. She was a long-time Avon Lady achieving President's Club awards year after year. She was the best executive secretary anyone could ever ask for. Her work of 36 years in financial planning and 10 years at A.G. Holley Hospital were beyond reproach and a testament to her business acumen and administrative expertise. She was beautiful, tender-hearted, funny, and we can't forget a 'little' stubborn. She will be sorely missed by all. Visitation will be held at E. Obituary: Melvin "Mel" Byrum, age 89, of Tallahassee, Florida, died, 17, 2014 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida, after a long battle with cancer. He was born 29, 1924, in Washington, DC and raised in Winchester, Virginia. He was a member of the U.S.Navy and a WWII Veteran. Mel moved to Miami, Florida circa 1945. Mel, who is a wonderful Christian, loved the Lord.His faith shined through in all he did and said. He was always smiling and always had a joke to tell. He was a carpenter, a craftsman as well as a business owner in Miami. retirement, he was always helping others to build or fix something. Mel and his wife of 15 years, Andrea, moved from Miami to Tallahassee in 2000.There they joined Morningside Baptist Church. Mel was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Emma Jean Byrum.He is survived by his loving wife Andrea; his four daughters; Pat Charns (Larry) , Pam Martin, Lynn Erdely (Roger), Wanda Corn, one son Don Corn; one stepson Nelson Galan; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one brother; Burton Byrum.Mel is also survived by a multitude of family members in the states of Tennessee, Texas and Ohio whom he loved and cherished.Mel will be remembered by all that knew him as a good Christian, a great father and a fantastic husband. A Memorial service is being planned and the date will be announced at a later time. He will be interred in Pikeville, Tennessee alongside his beloved Emma Jean.
