Obituary: Captain Robert E. Blandine, US Navy (Retired) died on 16, 2014 at Baptist Hospital. Captain Blandine was born in Canonsburg, PA on 6, 1929. He enlisted in the US Navy following graduation from high school in 1947. He was commissioned an Ensign and designated a Naval Aviator in 1953. His duty stations included five patrol squadrons, the last being as Commanding Officer of Patrol Squadron 49; two assignments to ships, including the last as Navigator on the USS Forrestal; three tours at the US Navy Postgraduate School where he earned both his Baccalaureate and Masters Degrees; duty at the Bureau of Naval Weapons; and the first Professor of Naval Science/ Commanding Officer, NROTC Unit at The University of West Florida. Captain Blandine retired from the naval service in 1975. He served at Escambia Area Transit as a Director of Finance for over twenty-five years. He was very active in the Naval Aviation Museum. Captain Blandine resided in the Pensacola area since 1978. Captain Blandine is survived by his son, William D. Blandine (Anna) and grandson, Patrick, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; his granddaughter Cristina M. Cain (John) of Millbrook, Alabama; two great grandsons, Hardy and Newt; his brother, Jack Blandine, of Tucson, Arizona; his niece Peggy Dillon Scheuritzel (Wade), of Palisades, New York. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Cynthia Salko, and step grandson, Christian Stanfield. Captain Blandine was preceded in death by his wives, Helen Mary, who died in 1992; and Lucy Antoinette, who died in 2014. Captain Blandine was a Life Member of the Association of Naval Aviation, The Military Officers Association of America, the U.S. Naval Institute, and The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. The Blandine family would like to give special thanks to friends, Frank and Marie Turchi for their invaluable assistance and support; and Mike McKelvaine and LaTarasha Clark of Griswold . Services will be held at Our Lady of Loreto Chapel, NAS, Pensacola, Florida, at 1 p.m. on 29. Inurnment, with full military honors, will follow in Barrancas National with Oaklawn directing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. |

Obituary: LUCY ANTOINETTE BLANDINE 1929-2014 Lucy Blandine passed away , 3, 2014. She was born in Pennsylvania on 17, 1929, and lived in Bethel Park until moving to Pensacola in 1996. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Belleview, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a friend to all. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Filomena (Porcaro) Di Tullio, her previous husband, Joseph Salko, and her brothers Anthony and Marshall Di Tullio. Lucy is survived by her daughter Cynthia Joyce Salko, of Riviera Beach, Florida, her grandson, Christian Stanfield of West Palm Beach, Florida, her brother, Roland Di Tullio (Margie) of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and her husband, Captain Robert E. Blandine, US Navy (Retired), of Pensacola. Lucy worked for many years at various Sears stores in the Pittsburgh area. Always of interest to their many friends, was Lucy or Bob telling the story of how they were married for 14 years; however they had been engaged for 50 years! The family would like to thank Doctor Michael Daum and his staff, and the Emerald Coast Hospice staff, for their care and compassion during this difficult period. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Lucys memory, to the Pensacola Animal Shelter, or Emerald Cost Hospice. Services will be held on , 12, 2014, beginning at 11:30 AM at St. Annes Catholic Church In Pensacola, with interment to follow at follow at Barrancas National .
