Obituary: DAVID BIEBER, 62 Walgreens WINTER HAVEN - David Bieber, 62, passed away on , 30, 2014, at Tampa General Hospital, surrounded by his family. A recent retiree, David spent his life doing the things that he loved: Laughing, Loving, and Helping those in need. He was a man of great compassion and patience, with a boyish grin that could give you hope even in the midst of despair. David was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 1952 to Gene and Ann Bieber. The open heart surgeries he survived in his childhood paved the way for the strides made in cardiac surgery technologies today. He was a 'pioneer patient' in pediatric cardiology and his survival was a continual miracle. A Navy dependent, Dave lived on both the east and west coasts while growing up. He graduated from Middletown High School in Middletown, Rhode Island, in 1971. He married Linda Scheck and together they settled in Winter Haven, Florida, where they raised three daughters, Heather Lynn Bieber, Cassandra Leigh Bieber Malone, and Katelynn Elizabeth Bieber. A believer in Christ, Dave was a lifelong Methodist and called Beymer Memorial UMC home. He was a supporter of the Chorus at the Winter Haven High School - coordinating and leading many fundraisers to benefit the WHHS Chorus enabling them to compete in state and national competitions. He and his wife established the Katelynn Elizabeth Bieber Scholarship in memory of their youngest daughter, Katie, a former member of the group. The scholarship was awarded each year to the graduating WHHS Chorus member who best exemplified those attributes they believed their Katie had shown: Hard Work, Determination and Perseverance. Dave was an avid bowler and as a member of the Sparks Construction Services team at Cypress Lanes, traveled to National Bowling Tournaments all over the country. He was a diehard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan and charter season ticketholder. He worked for several restaurants in earlier years, but made a career in retail with Walgreens. His commitment to excellence, to fairness, and to his fellow coworkers made him a favorite at the stores where he worked. He made it a point to know his customers by name and it was not at all unusual for him to be recognized around town. He was kind and charming and believed in the good in all. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Scheck Bieber, his parents Cdr. and Mrs. Gene L. Bieber, his sister Ginny (Dija) Dubose, his daughters Heather Lynn Bieber and Cassandra Leigh Bieber Malone, and his grandchildren Emma Victoria Bieber, Zara Rachelle Malone and Syann Leigh Malone. He is also survived by Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Scheck, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Donald Silvia and family, Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Scheck III and family, and Ms. Lee Cordoza and family. He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter Katelynn Elizabeth Bieber and will rest beside her in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Auburndale, FL. Obituary: Otto Norman Bie, Major (USAF, Ret) better known as Cappy passed away on , 29, 2015 at 1:58 PM at the age of 83. Cappy was born to Norman and Rita Monrose Bie from Tampa, Florida on 28, 1931, the fifth of their sixth children. When he was five years old he moved with his family to Indian Rocks Beach where they made the historic Boathouse into the Bie family home. He grew up at the Boathouse and was blessed to spend the last months of his life in his boyhood home, surrounded by his extended family, friends and the memories of all the years they shared together. Cappy received his education at Anona Elementary School, Clearwater Junior and Senior High School, and the University of Florida in Gainesville. In 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was eventually promoted to Major. As an Air Force pilot he flew B-47 jet bombers with the Strategic Air Command during the years of the Cold War. During the Vietnam War he flew C-141 jet transports in and out of Vietnam more than fifty times while serving in the Military Airlift Command. 21 years of living on different military bases all around the world, Cappy retired from the Air Force in 1975. He brought his wife, Cynthia and his children, Daniel and Summer, back home to live in Indian Rocks Beach to enjoy the sand, sun and boating together. Cappy then became a Real estate Broker. Cappy was a very kind-hearted man. A loyal son to his parents. A devoted husband and father to his wife and children. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could lead any group in songs and laughter. He felt a deep concern for others well-being and was willing and able to reach out to help them. He always cherished the lifelong friendships he made while serving his country. His neighbors will always appreciate how he brought them together for fun and companionship. Most of all, his extended family will forever be grateful to Cappy for keeping them close to one another through the years regardless of all the miles that were between them. Memories of Cappy Bie will live on in those who shared memberships with him in many organizations including: • St. Jerome Catholic Church • The Secret Order of the Quiet Birdman • Air Force Escape and The Evade Society (AFEES) • The Order of Daedalians • 8th Air Force Historical Society • Air Lift Tanker Association • B-47 Stratejet Association • Disabled American Veterans Organization • The Kappa Alpha Order Cappy is preceeded by his parents, Norman and Rita Bie, and his sister Marie Bie Rivers. He is survived by his forever sweetheart, loving and devoted wife Cynthia Cindy McCurdy Bie, his son Daniel Grady Bie, his daughter Summer Teresa Bie, and grandson Daniel Xikis; his siblings Ellen Dainwood, Rita Tami (Livio), Norman Bie Jr. (Katherine), E.W. Billy (Shera), numerous beloved nieces and nephews, and cousins in the Bie, Monrose and McCurdy families. His entire family extends their deepest thanks to his nephew Edward Bie, niece Wendla McCurdy and to the aides Heather Perez, Angie Campbell, Jessica Atchison, Brenda Phillips, Lafrieda Mannor, Octavia McCray, and Dessa Smith and Donna Williams who so lovingly cared for him during the last months of his life and Suncoast Hospice. She married Norman Bie, Jr, a Second Lt. in the USAF on 17, 1951 at Christ the King Church in Tampa. His service in the US Air Force led them to Massachusetts and Germany returning to the US in 1959. Kit and Norman have 3 children, Norman Bie, III, Edward Beriman Bie and Nancy Lee Bie. Edward has two daughters, Linzy Bie and Taylor Bie, Nancy has 2 sons, Rylee Ravenscroft and Ryder Ravenscroft.
