Obituary: Helen R. Behrens of Pine Island, Florida passed into Heaven surrounded by her loving family on 22, 2015, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. Helen is predeceased by her husband, Warren Behrens, and is survived by her children, Walter Behrens of Oak Ridge, New Jersey; Paul Behrens of Seffner, Florida; Lynn Robertia of Jupiter, Florida; W. Scott Behrens of Punta Gorda, Florida, their families; and Helens dear friend, Joanna McCracken of Cape Coral, Florida. Helen (Jean) is also survived by her cousins, Theodore Dryer and Charles Dryer of Indianapolis, Indiana. Helen Rutledge was born on 6, 1923, in Indianapolis, Indiana where she met the love of her life, Warren Behrens, who was also born on 6. their marriage on 25, 1945, they lived in New Jersey where they raised their four children in Jersey City and West Milford. Helen was a selfless, caring mother who gave her children strength, courage, and the love of life. Helen lived her love of animals by raising many dogs, cats, and rabbits and by helping hundreds of others through her volunteer and philanthropic efforts. Helen may be honored through donations to Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Florida or to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Kenab, Utah. |

Obituary: Colonel William (Bill) H. Behrends, Jr.Colonel William (Bill) H. Behrends, Jr. retired USAF, peacefully passed away , 10, 2015 at his home in Pensacola. He was surrounded by his family, after a valiant fight with Parkinson's disease. Bill was born to the late William and Betty Behrends on 1, 1944 in Berkley, California. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and Air Force Reserve for 40 years. Bill also served his country, working for the Veterans Administration as an Audiologist in Tuskegee and Senior Audiologist in Pensacola, proudly serving the Veterans whom he loved and cherished. Bill loved his church and his friends. He enjoyed ball room dancing with his beloved wife Martha. Known as "Wild Bill" to his friends, his love for outdoor sports included organizing some of the first runs in Pensacola, from 5K to ultra marathon distance races. In addition to organizing races and providing Amateur radio race course communication, Bill loved running. Some of his race accomplishments include: the Dallas, San Francisco and Blue Angel marathons. In his younger years, Bill worked as a motorcycle mechanic. He never lost his love for motorcycles, especially dirt bikes. Bill (WA4YRN) was an amateur radio operator since 1962. For many years, Bill and his family were members of First Baptist Church of Pensacola, where he and Martha were active in the choir. Later, Bill joined Olive Baptist Church to be with family and grandchildren. Bill attended the University of Maryland, the University of South Alabama, and finally, the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned his Masters Degree. Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha (Hadley) Behrends of Mobile; son, William H. Behrends III (Melanie); grandson, Dylan Kyler Behrends; granddaughter, Madison Danielle Behrends, and many extended family members. Thanks to his many friends for their love and support throughout his illness. And thank you to Covenant Hospice for your passionate care.
