Obituary: Dr. Clyde George Banner II, 63 years young, passed away , 15, 2016, after a heroic battle with cancer. Clyde was born in Denver and raised in his beloved New Orleans; a city as flavorful and full of life as he. Dr. Banner attended Tulane University, where he played college baseball, and not to be outdone, football too. He graduated in 1977, and went on to complete his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine, and establish his career in Jupiter, Florida, practicing Emergency Medicine. For more than 21 years he tirelessly and loyally devoted himself to his passion for helping people and saving lives as an ER doctor at Jupiter Medical . JMC was his home away from home, and the people he worked with were much more than colleagues – they were friends and extended family. Though Jupiter became his home, New Orleans was a part of his essence in every way – you could taste it in his cooking, hear it in his selection of music, and feel it in his zest for life. As a family man and avid sports fan, he fused these together in the Crescent City whenever possible. He traveled back to NOLA pretty regularly, with his forever fiancé, Linda by his side. He loved the Saints and Tulane Athletics, which he supported every year. made the most of those trips, visiting his mom, sister and oldest daughter, Genevieve. His youngest daughter, Krystal who lived in Florida, would accompany them often, as would close friends who also shared a love of New Orleans. Together they would attend Tulane games, Saints games, Jazz Fest, and Mardi Gras parades and balls with the Krewe of Endymion, to which Clyde was a member. Clyde was an extremely caring and generous soul who loved his family and close friends deeply. He lit up a room with his warm and gentle smile, and made everyone whose lives he touched, feel accepted and loved. He is survived by Linda Giannetti, his long time fiancé and life partner of 18 years; daughters, Genevieve and Krystal Banner; step sons, Dennis and Dominic Giannetti; and daughter-in-law, Lauren Giannetti. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Joe LeMoine; nieces, Angelle Lawson (and family), Michelle Sortino (and family); and grandchildren, Antonia, Dylan, Sofia and Giuliana Giannetti. A Visitation will be held on , 20th from 5pm to 9pm at Taylor and Modeen , 250 St., Jupiter, FL 33458. Family will be speaking from 6pm to 7pm. Obituary: Ret Colonel GERALD KENT BANKUS and PATRICIA ANN BANKUS 1942 – 2016 1960 – 2016 Kent and Patty Bankus of Niceville, FL, passed away together on 16, 2016. Kent was born 11, 1942 in Milan, MO. He graduated from Univ of Missouri School of Engineering in 1964. that he entered the Air Force where his first assignment was Vance AFB, OK where he graduated #1 in his pilot training class. Upon completion he entered F-100 training at Luke AFB, AZ. He was assigned to Bien Hoa Air Base in South Vietnam where he was shot down while flying combat and was rescued by an Army helicopter. He was selected to attend test pilot school in 1969. Upon completion, he was assigned to Eglin AFB, FL. Throughout his career, he flew the F-4, A-7 and F-16 in multiple assignments. His last flying assignment was at Hill AFB, UT where he was the Director of Operations. He then went on the Pentagon in 1986 where he was assigned as Special Assistant to Under Secretary of the Air Force for Research and Engineering. He retired in 1987 with the rank of Colonel and then became a Staffer for Senator Sam Nunn in 1988. He became Corporate Vice President for General Dynamics for a very successful career in the defense industry. His military decorations include the Silver Star with one oak leaf cluster, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Air Medal with two silver and three bronze oak leaf clusters, just to name a few. He served on the Board of the YMCA, was a member of the Test Pilot Association, past member of Ft. Walton Sailfish Club, member of Rocky Bayou Country Club; he loved retirement, their beautiful home on the bayou in Niceville, fishing, boating, their farm in Missouri hosting hunting outings, and golf. Pop Pop was adored by his many grandchildren. Patty was born 14, 1960 in Carbondale, PA, and grew up with her parents and six siblings in Falls Church, Virginia. Kent and Patty were married 26, 1989 on a ski slope in Breckenridge, CO. Patty was a vivacious soul who loved her family and friends fiercely and dearly, was fun loving and quick witted; enjoyed gourmet club, Bible study, knitting, crafts and traveling with Kent and Grammie time with the kids. She was a wonderful cook, known for her desserts and hostessing talents. She loved entertaining with creative and fun theme parties. Her five brothers and sister, many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces, along with huge extended family members and friends will forever miss her bright smile, blue eyes, gorgeous auburn red hair and laughter. Kent is preceded in death by son John Bankus and father Dempsey Bankus. are survived by Kents Mother, Margie Isaacson; Pattys parents, William and Margaret McDonald, VA; son Kyle Bankus (Dawna), VA; a daughter, Kathleen Hope Murray (Wes), Crestview, FL; Kents siblings, Bob Bankus, Jaci Diebner, Jeri Hollowell, Donna Huxtable; Pattys siblings Mark, Tom, Billy, Michael, Tim and sister, Jeannie, McDonald, VA; many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces. Grandchildren Taylor Knowles , Sydney Bankus, Grant Bankus, Kyle Bankus, Ashley Bankus, Bennett, Leander and Mavie Murray; great grandchild Aiden Knowles. A memorial service will be held at Crosspoint Methodist Church, Niceville, FL, on , 23, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, , 28, 2016 at Schoene-Ruschmeier in Milan. Burial with military rites will follow at Mt. Olivet , east of Green City, Missouri. A visitation is scheduled for 12:00 Noon until the service on at the funeral home. |
