Galt Buhler Booth, born July 2, 1925 died March 11, 2015 in Branford, Connecticut. Galt was 89. Obituary: Galt Buhler Booth of Short Beach died peacefully of old age on 11, 2015, with his wife Grace Mary Romano and son Jim Booth at his side. Galt resided in Branford for 64 years. He was interred in a private ceremony on 18.

Galt was born 2, 1925 in Montana to a cowboy and a school teacher. The family soon moved to Los Angeles. graduating high school, Galt served in the Navy during WWII, teaching electronics and radio repair. But he quietly declined to call himself a veteran, and abhorred war. Booth loved meeting people around the world, never had an unkind word to say, and was incapable of holding a grudge. He was a feminist, encouraging accomplishment and independence in the women around him. He embraced social change as the world changed around him, and adored technological change.

WWII, Galt earned a BSEE and MSME from CalTech. While there, he worked instrumentation for a physics professor doing cosmic ray research. He met his first wife, Rosemary, at a college mixer. He was recruited out of CalTech in 1951 to join MB Electronics in New Haven. His then fiancée, daunted at the prospect of moving 3,000 miles from family, asked what you do in a situation like that. He said, simple, you just ask for more money than you think they e willing to pay, and if they agree, you take it.

moving to Connecticut, he flew down the coastline and saw Short Beach Bay. He vowed someday hed have a house on that bay. Soon he had that dream house, and resided in Short Beach until his death.

As an engineer, Galts specialty was vibrations and pressure testing systems. He worked 17 years at MB, ending as Technical Director. He then founded Booth, Bruel, and Kjaer, a subsidiary of a Danish firm, which he left in 1973. Until his death he continued consulting as Booth Development, Inc. He held a number of patents, most recently for devices he invented to inspect and stabilize decaying historical frescoes in Washington DC and Italy.

For work and leisure, Galt travelled around the world. His favorite place overseas was skiing in the Italian Alps. He met his second wife, Grace Mary, through the New Haven Tennis and Ski Club.

Galt is survived by his wife Grace Mary Romano of Short Beach; Barbara Booth of Houston, married to Iverson Whisnant; Pat Booth, Jim Booth, and Ginger Booth of Branford; Stephen Booth of Burlington Vermont, married to Joanne Palmisano; and Geoffrey Booth of Los Angeles, married to Jennifer Weiss.
