Obituary: Veron Benjamin Bent, 67, of Windsor, beloved husband of Josephine Kelly-Bent, passed away on , 15, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies on 6, 1949, son of the late Stanley and Eurcy (Salmon) Bent, he was raised in Jamaica and worked as a police officer in Kingston and St. Andrew, Jamaica before migrating to the United States. settling in Hartford, Veron took a position as a security guard at Hartford Hospital where he worked for 25 years until his retirement. He had such pride and commitment to the hospital during his illness he refused to be treated by any other hospital or doctors. Proud of his service as a police officer in Jamaica, Veron was an active member of the Jamaica Ex-Police Association of Connecticut where he also served as Vice President for two terms. He was passionate about all the work that the Jamaica Ex-Police Association did in the community and most recently he dedicated countless hours of his time to remodeling their new headquarters on stead Avenue in Hartford. Veron was a very kind and loveable man who was always ready with a smile and a joke and who had many friends throughout the Hartford area. His family and friends admired his pristine yard that he cared for each summer and the disciplined way in which he maintained his home, his car, and his appearance. He was always a dapper dresser and took great pride his appearance no matter the occasion. Most of all, Veron will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. His wife lovingly described their relationship by saying that “If God made a good husband…It was Veron!” He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of six years, Josephine Kelly-Bent of Windsor; a son, Winston Bent and his wife Veronica of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Latoya Bent-Mann and her husband Jason of Houston, TX; a stepdaughter, Rhushae Ingram of East Hartford; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Daniel Bent of Raleigh, NC, Bryson Mann of Houston, TX, and Maya Dixon of East Hartford; two brothers, Hubert Bent of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Roy Bent and his wife Morine of Alberta, Canada; three sisters, Enid Harper of Miami, FL, Joan Bent of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, and Pearline Bent of Miami, FL; a sister-in-law, Barbara Bent of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Creson Bent. His family will receive friends on , 28, 6-9 p.m., at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor and on , 29, 10-11 a.m., at International Gospel Fellowship, 650 Park Ave., Windsor. A going Service will be held on , 29, 11 a.m., at International Gospel Fellowship in Windsor. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict . Veron’s family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Jamaica Ex-Police Scholarship Fund, 126-128 stead Ave., Hartford, CT 06112. Obituary: Our Angel, Joanne Marie Benson of Monroe, went to be with our Lord Jesus on 2nd, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born 24, 1969 to Carl Forrest Benson and Jeanette Kachele Benson of Monroe. She fought a courageous year long battle with cancer with hope, a strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers from family and friends. Joanne was a graduate of Masuk High School 1987 and Sacred Heart University with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice. Most of her career was spent working in the Town of Easton as a records clerk, special police officer and dispatcher. She was a member of the Monroe Police Explorers and the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department during her youth. A most caring and gentle soul, Joanne was loved and cherished by all of her family and friends, of which she had many. She served God in the Black Rock Church Nursery, track ministry and was a dedicated member of a community group. Joannes passions included flowers (sun and zinnias), working in the garden, horses, cross-stitch, DD iced coffee and Disney World. She also loved spending time with her family especially during the holidays. A few days before her passing, Joanne was able to celebrate her son's graduation from high school, with family and friends. Joanne was so very proud of Michael and all of his accomplishments. Joanne is survived by her son, Michael Aaron Benson, the love and inspiration of her life. Her sister Laura Benson Griffiths and brother in law Gary Michael of Easton. Her Brother, David Carl Benson of Monroe. Joanne loved spending time with her nephews and niece - Jack, Kai, Emma and Zane Griffiths, all of Easton. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends and family are invited to Joanne's wake, Tomorrow, , 9th, 2015 from 4-7pm, at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community , 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A service to celebrate her life will be held , 11am at the Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, please meet directly at church, with reception to follow.
