Obituary: Mr. Carl Lavon Burton age 90 of Childersburg, Al passed away on 25, 2017 at his residence. service for Mr. Burton will be on 29, 2017 at 2PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Visitation will be on 28, 2017 from 5-8PM at the North chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial . Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams will be officiating the service. Survivors are his son; Cassie (Shelia) Burton. Daughters are Barbara (Richard) Riggins, Diane Burton Bearden, Wanda (Bucky Ingram, Carla (Steve) Persons, Ellen (Bittie) Hawthorne. Mr. Burton had ten Grandchildren and Nineteen Great Grandchildren. Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Shirley Burton. Father; Lee Burton, Mother; Mexia Burton, Sisters; Juanita Conville, and Fay Carlson. Special friend of 25 years Bobbie Tubbs. Grandson; Chad Riggins. Mr. Burton graduated from B.B Comer High School and was in World War II. He also was in the Navy and Marines. He served in the Philippines Islands and earned a Purple heart, he also worked at E C. Gaston Steam plant where he retired in 1988. Pallbearers are Jason Ingram, Josh Hawthorne, Nickolas Ingram, Anthony Persons, Scott Medine, Matt Abrams, Troy Jeffcoat and Camaran Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Thomas Medine and Nathan Hawthorne. Family request flowers or donatins to be made to Sylacauga Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be made to www.curtisandsonfh.com. Obituary: Annie Laura Burton, age 88 of wood, passed away on 18, 2017. She was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church for 75 years and taught school in the childrens department for over 50 years. Mrs. Burton was affectionately known as the Uniform Lady sewing and mending the uniforms for the wood High School Band for 42 years. Recognized in 2003 as wood Citizen of the Year for her untold hours of volunteer work in her community. Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband Gene Kenneth Burton. She is survived by her 4 children: Mike Burton(Diane) of Holly Pond, Gail Gough (Charles) of Hoover, Loretta Strouss (Bill) of Springville and Keith Burton (Vicki) of Hoover, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on , 20th from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ridouts Valley Chapel in wood. Visitation will be also be on , 21st at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church from 1 until 2 pm with the Celebration of Life service following at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Annie Laura Burton may be made to the wood High School Band Uniform Fund, 1901 South Lakeshore Drive, wood, AL 35209. under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel, wood, AL. |
