Obituary: Rodney W. Rod Barnett Age 65, of the Town of Delafield, passed from The Land of the Dying to the Land of the Living on 10, 2017. Rod was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and recalls his early boyhood years living near 8 Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan, in a Quonset hut. Rod was a graduate of Roseville Brablec High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Grace , in Winona Lake, Indiana where he was Captain of the Track Team for 2 years and was mentored by some good men. Rod always said that the best decision he ever made was marrying his wife, Marjie, who changed the course of his life. Rod spent the summer back in Detroit, working the night shift at General Motors Truck and Coach, and saving every penny. Marjie, 19, and Rod, 22, were then joined in marriage in Wausau, Wisconsin in the summer of 1973. Rod always loved working with young people and coaching basketball. He served as a volunteer coach at Country Christian School for 10 years and served on the CCS School Board for 8 years. At the same time, Rod spent 23 years as the owner and CEO of Best Locking Systems of Wisconsin and Access Control. He developed cherished lifelong relationships with his employees, business associates, and customers. retirement, he built and managed 3 Self–Storage facilities in Hartland and Brookfield. He loved working with his partners, who have been men of integrity and close friends. Rod believed that God put him in difficult situations to do difficult tasks and always enabled him to do them, in spite of his limitations. He faced things that seemed impossible to fix, but he learned that othing is impossible with God! Examples of Gods hand in Rods life include Rods leadership in the purchase and sale of Country Christian School, his 11 years of service with the school board and business office at Heritage Christian School, and his work in the founding of Lake Country Bible Church in 1998. Rod found tremendous joy in praying and planning with his friends and partners who were ready to trust God and step out in faith. While at Heritage Christian School, Rod served as the girls basketball head coach and assistant head coach from 2007-2010. During the 2011-2012 school year, he had the thrill of a lifetime coaching the Heritage Girls Basketball team who became State Champions! The girls were very special to him. One of Rods favorite Bible passages is John 11:25, 26. I am the Resurrection and the Life, He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this? Rods answer was a resounding Yes! John 14:6 was found on his business cards. Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.\ Rod is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marjie, and his three dear children: Brent Barnett (Sarah), Alison (Joe) Hoff, and Hilary (Stephen) Korb. Rod was also blessed with seven wonderful grandchildren : Anneke, Kyler, Grayden, Samantha, Molly, Adeline and Sadie. Rod is also survived by his parents Fred and Peggy Barnett, brother Fred Jr. (Debbie) Barnett, sisters Shelley (Bob) Johansen and Liz (Sam) Berchiolly, and mother-in-law Charlotte Koerten (late husband John, who was an inspirational father-in-law in Rods life). A visitation will be held at Spring Creek Church, N35 W22000 Capitol Drive, Pewaukee on , 18, 10:00 AM-12 NOON; immediately followed by a memorial service at 12:00. All are invited to remain at the church for a luncheon after the memorial. In lieu of flowers, donations to Heritage Christian Schools would be appreciated. |
