Obituary: Annette Bell Barnette, 95, of South Charleston, passed away on , 24, 2015, at Hubbard Hospice House - West. She was born in Summersville, WV. She was the oldest child of the late Bennett and Mary Hereford Bell. graduating from Nicholas High School, she married her high school sweetheart, Ewell Barnette, on 8, 1937, and they came to South Charleston to live where Ewell had been employed by Union Carbide and where she had been a resident for more than 70 years. She attended Charleston School of Commerce and began working at American Fork and Hoe (Kelly Axe Works) as a payroll clerk. She worked there until the birth of her first child, John. her youngest child, Kathy started to school, she began working at Charleston Newspapers in order to help with college expenses for her children. She retired in 1982 after 22 years of service. Annettes husband preceded her in death, on 26, 1975. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John; grandson, Justin, sister, Eileen Bell Peters; three brothers, Claude, Jack and Ben Bell; and four nephews, Joe, Rex, and Tom Bell and John Jarrell. She is survived by her son, William Joseph Barnette of Amelia, Ohio; daughter, Katherine B. Moses of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Will (Anne) Barnette of Atlanta, GA, Joshua (Christine) Barnette of Austin, TX, and Emily Moses Pendola of Chesapeake, VA; great grandchildren, Mac Barnette, Preston Barnette, Sawyer Barnette, Skyler Pendola and Noelle Barnette; sister, Mary Lou (John) Jarrell of Summersville; nephews, Mick, Jim, Steve and Sid Bell, Mike Peters, Gary Jarrell and Andy Pickens; and nieces Linda Peters Racer and Tammy Bell Koerner. Next to her Lord and her family, her church, Fifth Avenue Church of God, was the other great love of her life. She had been a member for over 70 years. She served as assistant treasurer and financial secretary, member of the church council and other boards, was teacher of the Inspirators Class for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Women of the Church of God and had served as president, treasurer, and for many years was the membership chairperson. She had served as organist at the church for 65 years. She had been a member of the Quota Club of South Charleston for more than 30 years, AARP, and the Kanawha Democratic Womens Club. A Service to Honor the Life of Annette Barnette will be held at 2:00 PM, , 26, 2015, at Fifth Ave. Church of God with Pastor Rodney Campbell officiating. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the services at the church. Entombment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens at 10:00 AM, , 28, 2015. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Fifth Ave. Church of God, 200 5th Ave., South Charleston, WV 25303. Obituary: ( 12, 1919 - 01, 2015) Virgie Shon Barnett, 95, of Gary, West Virginia, passed away , 1, 2015 at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation in Jamestown, NC where she lost a long battle with Alzheimers. She was surrounded by her family. Born 12, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William and Mattie Duncan Phillips. Virgie was a lifelong member of the #10 Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a School Teacher, Vice-President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Choir Director and Deacon. Virgie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Alfred M. Barnett, and her son Alfred M. Barnett, Jr. and great grandson Christopher St. Hilaire and six brothers: George, Frank, Charles, Joe, Wade Skeet and Houston Bus Phillips; and six sisters: Nannie Rose, Virginia Powell, Ida Marie Carter, Pearl Mae Castle, Hattie M. Gravely and Gertie Barnes. Survivors include: Loving Daughter Wanda Barnett Chapman and her husband Joe Chapman of Kernersville, NC. Two granddaughters: Donna Brown of Kernersville, North Carolina and Shawn Barnett of Hillsville, Virginia. Two grandsons: Victor Barnett and Michael Barnett of Manassas, Virginia. Six great grandchildren: Tiffany Brown, Steven St. Hilaire, Justin Barnett, Amanda Barnett, Victor Barnett, Jr. and Cassidy Barnett. services will be conducted on , 6, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. James Tunnell officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
