Obituary: Alvin Arthur Bridge Born 3, 1936 in Bellingham Washington, entered Heaven 14, 2013. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1954 and went on to Western Washington where he graduated with a degree in Education and Majoring in Music in 1958. He later attended the University of Oregon in the summer, earning a Masters of Education with emphasis in Music. Upon graduating from Western, Art was hired to teach mathematics and music in the Peshastin-Dryden School District in Eastern Washington.. Two years in the 4 years Art taught there, he married Margaret Young, his high school sweetheart and the light of his life for 53+ years. Art had high expectations for his students while at Peshastin-Dryden and his math students excelled and his band won numerous awards. Art was also involved in the community as a volunteer fireman and could relate many almost unbelievable stories of life on the job. Art and Margaret moved to Mukilteo in the summer of 1962 where Art was hired to teach math aat Olympic View Junior High School. To this day, students turned adults can still relate with fondness stories of Mr. Bridges classroom. Mr. Bridge retired from teaching in 1988 after thirty years of fun. Art had many interests along his journey and tried most of them-all the while telling Margaret how much she would enjoy doing them with him. A few of these joint ventures included golf, archery, mountain and rock climbing, traveling, hot air ballooning, buying and selling antiques (mostly buying) and through these adventures, they developed many life-long friends. Art played drums in the American Legion ing Band in Everett and also was a volunteer for the Mukilteo Police department and the Snohomish Sherriffs Department. Art loved to read books and had over 500 books in his private collection. Art loved duck hunting with his good friend Bob Sheldrup and Arts dog Max. Art also loved nice cars-the spring , summer and fall-not so much the winter. Art had a good sense of humor, and made you laugh. Art had a good life and was good to his friends and family. Art will be missed, but not forgotten. We love you Art! (Art did not like to mow the lawn!) |
