Obituary: History: Born in Lincoln, Nebraska on 28, 1973, Joe Brester began his journey through life. Joe was the oldest son of parents Robert and LaVonne Brester. Robert, a hardworking man, raised his seven children in a very disciplined way. It was from him that Joe learned much of his hard work ethic. LaVonne, an extremely loving and caring women, raised her seven children in a very comforting caring way. It was from her that Joe learned compassion and caring for others. Joe was a bright, fun, loving child who was very involved in sports, specifically baseball. At the age of fifteen, Joe was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Even with this heart condition, Joe was able to attain a college scholarship to play baseball. However, his career was cut short and moved back home to Burlington, Washington. Joe secured a position as assistant controller at Fisher & Sons, Inc. and put himself through college. He achieved a BA in accounting from Western Washington University and obtained a CPA certification. Joe moved to the Seattle area to be closer to friends. On a trip to Pullman for an Apple Cup game in 2000, Joe meet the love of his life, Sara Vorrath. In 2003, they married and started their wonderful life together. Joe and Sara welcomed their first child, daughter Aimee, in 2006 and soon after in 2007 the joy of their second child, son Hayden. In 2013, Joe obtained a position at R|Miller and quickly became a valuable member of the fabric of the company. Then in of 2014, after a short time of not feeling well, Joe was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia. This news of course came as a shock to Joe and his family and he began the hard long battle with cancer. nine months, Joe was officially deemed in remission in of 2014. In 2015, Joe started to feel sick and just two days before his 42nd birthday, a bone marrow test confirmed what he had feared. several unsuccessful treatments, Joe was losing the battle. Joe was put on a steroid to hold back the cancer for as long as possible and enjoy what time he had left. He was able to spend his last month celebrating life with family outings, playing poker, and spending quality time with his wife, children, family, and friends. Joseph Louis Brester passed away at his home very early in the morning on 4th, 2015 surrounded by his wife, children, parents, and six siblings. He died gracefully and honorably, never complaining about the hand he was dealt, never quitting as he fought right up until his last breathe. Regards: Joe was an accomplished private CPA, a successfully talented athlete, loving father, caring husband, incredible brother, and wonderful friend. We will miss his protective loving nature and will remember all the wonderful times we had together. Miss you and love you always..
